ARN confirms that Dr Chris Brown will replace Kyle and Jackie O KIIS FM breakfast slot - following months of speculation

ARN has finally confirmed who is set to fill in Australia's biggest breakfast radio vacancy on KIIS FM Sydney, following the axing of The Kyle and Jackie O Show in March.

It was confirmed on Monday that TV star Dr Chris Brown, KIIS regular Amy Gerard and Nova's Jack Charles will be getting their own morning show commencing Monday, November 9.

Dr Chris shared his excitement about the new role in a statement: 'Waking up with the city I love and bringing a huge dose of real life, warmth and (hopefully) humour is truly a dream come true. 

'This show will be all about sharing our mornings, some laughs and maybe a few secrets together. I can't wait. Plus, these hours are also a great way to beat the Bondi Road traffic. It's a win-win.'

Meanwhile, Gerard - who had been filling in as breakfast co-host opposite Mike E as the network searched for a permanent replacement - said the appointment was a real 'pinch yourself' moment.

'I'm genuinely pinching myself that I get to be part of this show. The chemistry between Chris, Jack and I already feels so natural, it's fun, unpredictable,' she began.

'There's a very good chance we’ll be completely unhinged before most people have had their first coffee. I cannot wait to wake up with Sydney every morning.'

They will be joined by Kyle And Jackie O veteran producer Natalie Penfold, who will help steer the discussions and ensure the show remains exciting and upbeat. 

Listeners can expect the station's trademark mixture of talkback, cheeky banter, topical discussions and popular music.

'Chris, Amy and Jack each bring a completely different perspective, and together they’ve created something that feels natural, relatable and full of personality,' ARN Chief Content Officer Kerri Elstub said in a statement.

'Breakfast radio is about being part of your audience's daily routine. We wanted a show that feels fresh, fun and unmistakably Sydney, while still delivering the big entertainment moments KIIS is known for.'

The trio will only be presenting in Sydney, with the search for the new Melbourne breakfast team still ongoing.

In a move that has been described as a return to ARN's local roots, the Sydney and Melbourne shows will go back to being two separate entities.

It follows the failed experiment that was handing both slots to Sydney-based Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson, whose arrival in the Melbourne market in 2024 was plagued by ratings woes.

Speaking to investors last month, ARN chief executive Michael Stephenson revealed the company had spent months developing fresh talent and new programming, while stressing the network would not rush decisions on its next generation of stars.

The network recently teased a complete overhaul of their programming on social media.

Alongside an image of several people's silhouettes, the network wrote: 'A new era is coming'.

The development comes after an emotional Kyle Sandilands revealed he was left in tears after learning his former co-host Henderson had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

As Jackie 'O' Henderson battles her former employer in a lawsuit seeking $82million in damages, her PTSD diagnosis was referenced in a medical report prepared by Dr Jonathan Phillips.

In a sworn statement, Henderson said she was 'belittled' and 'humiliated' by her 'unpredictable and erratic' former KIIS FM co-host Sandilands.

Henderson's KIIS FM contract was abruptly terminated in March after a high-profile on-air argument between her and Sandilands.

Sandilands settled his own termination dispute with ARN for $12.09million in June.
