Armie Hammer is back — in your earbuds, anyway, for those who are interested in tuning in to his new project that will in part document him “putting my life back together.”
On Monday, the actor, whose career was derailed by several sexual misconduct and abuse allegations, announced the launch of “The Armie HammerTime Podcast.” The official description of the podcast is as follows: “Armie sits down with extraordinary people from all walks of life as he rebuilds his own. Don’t worry… we feed him before every episode,” the latter being a reference to accusations that Hammer engaged in fantasies of cannibalism.
“Some of you are going to love this and some of you are going to fucking hate it,” Hammer said about the podcast in a video posted on Instagram Monday, in which he appears to be rolling down the boardwalk in L.A.’s Venice Beach.
Hammer said the original idea of the podcast was “sort of the concept that throughout the course of the day, every single person that you interact with knows at least one thing you don’t. So, teach me what that one thing is.” On the show, he said, “I want to have long-form, interesting conversations with people who have tools, or skills, or have acquired wisdom — or even just know random shit that I don’t know, I want to learn.”
In addition, Hammer said the podcast is “a journal of sorts.” “I’ve been gone for the last four years, and, uh, now I’m back. You know? What are you gonna do,” Hammer said. “So it’s going to be a sort of journal, or chronicling, of putting my life back together.” He added, “I’ll let you into my world a little bit.”
In the first episode, Hammer’s guest is actor Tom Arnold. The two of them “discuss personal growth, the journey to sobriety, and the importance of confronting past traumas,” according to the episode’s description. “They share stories of their experiences with addiction, rehabilitation, and the impact of their childhoods on their current lives.” Their also conversation “touches on the effects of fame on relationships and the journey of rebuilding a career after setbacks, emphasizing the significance of friendship and loyalty during crises.”
Hammer, whose acting credits include “The Social Network” and “Call Me by Your Name,” was living and working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands after he was ostracized in Hollywood due to sexual abuse allegations brought against him in 2021.
As a result of the allegations — which included rape, engaging in cannibalism fantasies and coercing partners into BDSM scenarios — Hammer exited several projects, was dropped by his publicist and agent and became the subject of an LAPD investigation. Ultimately no criminal charges were brought against Hammer, who has denied the allegations and maintained that all relationships were consensual.
“The Armie HammerTime Podcast” is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and other major audio platforms.
