Ariana Grande took to Instagram on Monday to announce that her dog Coco has died.

The 33-year-old pop star shared a carousel post featuring various images of the small brown and black pup she had for nearly two decades.

She wrote in a caption shared with her 362 million followers: 'Sweetest, most amazing and most beautiful Coco… I am so proud of you. Thank you for your love, and for blessing this planet with your physical presence for over seventeen wonderful years.'

Grande added: 'You make everywhere you go a more beautiful place. I will miss you every day and hold you in my heart always. I love you so, sweet girl.'

The songstress tagged boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, a choreographer and photographer, multiple times.

It comes months after she announced she would be taking a step back from the spotlight after wrapping her latest tour.

Alvarez shared the post in his Instagram Stories and added a red heart emoji.

Last month it was reported that the 7 Rings hitmaker is 'committed' to promoting her upcoming film Focker-in-Law, despite her planned hiatus.

She stars alongside Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller and Blythe Danner in the comedy, which opens in theaters on Thanksgiving Day.

In early August, Grande quit her West End role in Sunday In The Park with George and revealed a career break amid 'ongoing public scrutiny' over her apparent weight loss.

A spokesperson for the star told People at the time: 'Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.

'She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.'

Then in September, a source told the outlet that Grande will continue 'to support her brand work throughout the break.'

Grande released a music video for her song Petal in July, raising alarm bells as she appeared onscreen looking shockingly thin, with her sternum in plain sight.

Grande said her dog makes 'everywhere you go a more beautiful place'

Shortly after announcing the break through her rep, the pop star personally insisted her retreat from the public was planned 'a long time ago,' telling fans at a subsequent show that 'boundaries need to be set.'

She clarified that the pause in appearances had been 'quietly' orchestrated 'a long time ago' before insisting that the decision was not made because 'negativity was ruining things for me.'

Her Eternal Sunshine Tour wrapped on September 1 at London's The O2 after a 41-show run that stretched across 10 cities.

'This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just wanted to express my gratitude without sobbing completely,' the tearful star said to fans at the final show, per People.

She continued: 'Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been so special. I’ll cherish this experience always. I have the best fans in the entire world.'

Grande also took to Instagram to share outtakes from the concert and write, 'Thank you and I love you always.'
