Apple TV launched with a strong slate of shows, including two sci-fi dramas. Seven years later, the streaming service has earned acclaim as one of the best destinations for sci-fi lovers, thanks to its ever-expanding library of excellent shows. However, Apple TV has kept its longest-running sci-fi series, and arguably its best, running for seven years with a new season set to premiere next month. That show is For All Mankind, the alt-history space drama that has been lauded every season for its engaging story and epic visuals. The Joel Kinnaman-led masterpiece returns for Season 5 on March 27, but viewers are already buried in the story.

Streaming data from FlixPatrol shows that For All Mankind is receiving significant attention ahead of the much-awaited return in four weeks. The series has risen to quickly occupy the ninth position on the streamer's global top ten chart. It's not unusual for a show like For All Mankind to experience a streaming surge with a premiere this close, as viewers who were left behind catch up, new ones dive into the story, or superfans refresh their memories ahead of the next chapter. From Australia to The Gambia and The United States, subscribers are ready to take the ride with characters in the upcoming season that sees huge fractures develop between Earth and its erring colony, Mars.

Interplanetary Conflict Takes a New Course in 'For All Mankind' Season 5

Happy Valley is not only a thriving city in For All Mankind Season 5, but it's also a headache for Earth. Years after the Martians stole Goldilocks, their new home is thriving, but they still need support from their home planet. There is a strong push for Mars to assert its independence from Earth, but the powers that would be damned if their investment disappeared just like that. Meanwhile, the space expedition is far from over as the scientists take on the next challenge: the search for life in the hidden corners of the universe.

Ed (Kinnaman) is one of the few characters from earlier seasons who remain as others take center stage. His grandson Alex (Sean Kaufmann) seems to be following in his grandfather's footsteps as a leader and troublemaker, while Kelly (Cynthy Wu) and Aleida (Coral Peña) lead the next big undertaking of seeking life in the far corners of our solar system. Other main cast members include Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, and Wrenn Schmidt. Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Ruby Cruz, and Ines Asserson join the season as series regulars.

For All Mankind Season 5 premieres on March 27. Past seasons are available to stream on Apple TV. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
