Anya Taylor-Joy has blossomed into one of the biggest up-and-coming stars in Hollywood in the last few years after her career got rolling 10 years ago with hits like The Witch and Morgan. Just in the last few years, she headlined the massive sci-fi reboot, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel film that co-stars Chris Hemsworth. She earned widespread critical acclaim back in 2020 for her stunning performance in the Netflix original miniseries, The Queen’s Gambit, which is considered one of the original shows that helped launch the modern streaming era as we know it. Taylor-Joy is even in line to step into a much larger role in the third and final Dune movie in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi trilogy later this year, on December 18.

In an era where box office success is analyzed so heavily, it can be easy to forget some of the great movies that are released straight to streaming. For Anya Taylor-Joy, one of her biggest hits of the last few years falls into this category with The Gorge, the Apple TV original film that co-stars Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick). The film tells the story of two rogue agents, one from America and one from Russia, who are tasked with guarding opposite sides of a deep gorge that’s crawling with terrifying creatures. The Gorge is streaming exclusively on Apple TV both in America and around the world, and although it’s now been a year since it was released, it’s still one of the top five most popular movies for the streamer. Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) directed The Gorge with a script from Zach Dean.

What Is Anya Taylor-Joy Working on Right Now?

Anya Taylor-Joy currently has at least three movies completed that are ready to be released; the first on the schedule is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Taylor-Joy will reunite with Chris Pratt and Keegan-Michael Key in the film, which is due in theaters on April 1. Later this year, she will step into a much larger role in the aforementioned Dune: Part Three — the film will open alongside Avengers: Doomsday the week before Christmas. She even has a new movie with Chris Evans, Sacrifice, which debuted at TIFF last year but is still lacking an official release date. The thriller debuted with poor scores on Rotten Tomatoes from critics who had access to early screenings.

Check out The Gorge on Apple TV, and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
