Ansel Elgort Confirms He Privately Welcomed First Baby in Rare Message
Ansel Elgort is embracing his latest role.
The Baby Driver star confirmed that he and his partner welcomed their first baby as he officially introduced his son to the world.
“Fatherhood is exhilarating, exhausting, it’s everything and more,” Ansel wrote alongside a black and white photo of him cheek-to-cheek with his son in coordinating sweaters in a Feb. 10 Instagram. “The present feels more present and the future brighter.”
While the 31-year-old didn’t share his son’s name or birth date or the name of his partner—he did offer a glimpse at his baby boy’s qualities.
“He wakes us up all night and yet I’ve never felt stronger during the day,” he added. “He goes from crying to laughing, expressing everything he feels and it’s freed me to do the same.”
The Fault in Our Stars actor admitted that he had planned to keep his son’s birth private but ultimately, the news was too sweet to keep from the world.
“I wanted to keep it sacred, just for us,” he wrote. “But now I want to share this story with you as it’s the brightest happiest thing I’ve ever experienced. I hope it brings you happiness too. So much love Ansel.”
Ansel’s comments were filled with celebratory messages, including one from his sister Sophie Elgort, who fawned over her nephew writing, “Proud auntie here.” Samantha Angelilili, meanwhile, noted that, “Fatherhood looks so good, so right, on you.”

Ansel’s excitement extended beyond his grid as she shared a physical print of the photo on his Feb. 10 Instagram Story, and changed his profile picture to the snap of him and his son.
The Divergent actor’s baby reveal came a month after he and his partner made their family debut with their baby boy during a stroll in New York City.
In pictures from the outing, Ansel had his baby boy—who rocked a teddy bear onesie—strapped to his chest and they walked the NYC streets and even rode the subway.
Shortly after doting over his son, Ansel proved that fatherhood didn’t stop his love for his favorite sports team. Indeed, in a follow-up snap on his IG Story, Ansel rocked New York Knicks gear as he was sans baby, prior to stepping out at Madison Square Garden to see them take on the Indiana Pacers.
Alongside the pic showing off his team spirt, Ansel wrote, “Going to the Knicks game tonight.”
