It was back in 2001 that the Animal Crossing franchise arrived and took the world by storm. From the Nintendo 64 all the way to the Nintendo Switch 2, the social simulation franchise has been a constant companion throughout our childhoods, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

Back in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched just days before the first COVID-19 lockdown went into effect and, thanks to the latest addition in the Nintendo franchise, gamers were offered a lifeline during a trying time. As such, New Horizons became the second best-selling game in Nintendo Switch history, going on to sell over 47 million copies worldwide, and breaking the console game record for most digital units sold in a single month.

However, with just a brief DLC, Happy Home Paradise, released a year later, fans were not treated to any new content until January of this year, when Nintendo announced that it would be releasing Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 port. Other than that, there has been little to no post-game content for the game that helped us all during the pandemic, and fans have been left feeling disappointed by Nintendo once again.

Whilst there is no news of additional content, or a potential brand-new installment of Animal Crossing, there is something for fans to look forward to, and this time, it comes courtesy of LEGO.

Shared back in May, a Nintendo Today! announcement revealed that a brand-new LEGO kit inspired by Animal Crossing was set to be released and would feature none other than the tanuki nephew duo, Timmy & Tommy. Set to launch on 1 August, the kit titled 'Timmy and Tommy's Fun Day Out' comes in at $59.99 / £54.99 and features the adorable duo stood beside a red bridge. With one of the duo fishing, players can also spot a flying present in the air, and the bridge can be seen situated on a cute little puddle.

Here is what the official item description reads: "Level up kids’ rooms with an authentic piece of gaming decor, a fun gift idea for fans ages 10 and up. Timmy & Tommy’s Fun Day Out (77059) is a LEGO® Animal Crossing™ building set that’s packed with themed features and includes 2 posable, brick-built figures..."

"Stand the Timmy and Tommy figures on the bridge, fishing in the lake, or expand the action by placing the characters away from the bridge. Bring the model to life by rotating a section that makes the fish look like they’re swimming in the lake. Discover a section of cracked earth that can be opened to reveal a hidden fossil. Fans will recognize lots of accessories from the video game series, including a balloon present containing a DIY recipe card, a butterfly that can be moved by turning its transparent posing stick, fish bait, a fishing rod and a flag."

As mentioned, Timmy and Tommy's Fun Day Out launches on 1 August, and will be suitable for ages 10+ with the brand-new kit consisting of 513 pieces. As such, this will make the perfect gift for the young ones in your life, or even for yourself if you are a huge fan of the Animal Crossing franchise.
