Animal Crossing Officially Returns This Fall, Mark Your Calendars

1 hour ago 8

Animal Crossing turned 25 earlier this year, marking the milestone of when the first game debuted on the N64 in Japan. While we've since gotten Animal Crossing games in the West, the series became a huge part of the cultural zeitgeist with New Horizons in 2020. Now, fans of the series are clamoring for a sequel adventure on Switch 2.

So far, the closest we've gotten to this coming to fruition is the 3.0 update and the Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, it's not like Nintendo is completely ignoring the franchise. We've gotten a number of free downloads for ACNH and numerous merch releases in 2026 alone. Now, thanks to Bandai Namco, it looks like we've got something new to look forward to this fall.

Animal Crossing flocked plushes

Bandai Namco and Nintendo have revealed the Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Tomodachi Dolls line of products (pictured above). These flocked plushes will be released in September 2026. There are a total of ten popular villagers from ACNH included in this collection, according to the translated version of Bandai Namco's storefront:

  • Isabelle
  • Tom Nook
  • Timmy
  • Tommy
  • K.K. Slider
  • Judy
  • Cha-Cha
  • Julian
  • Jack
  • Flurry

Each doll is listed for 500 yen apiece (550 yen with tax), which comes out to just over $3 USD for each one (about $3.50 with tax). However, this doesn't include shipping costs. And it certainly include import fees if you're having them sent to the States from Japan. Right now, that's the only place to find them.

There's also the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Friend Dolls (pictured below), a premium option for these flocked plushes that run 5,500 yen each. That comes out to around $35 USD. And, no, this doesn't include shipping costs or import fees. Like the other dolls, they're currently only up for sale in Japan, but given Animal Crossing's global popularity, they may release in the U.S. and other countries soon.

While nothing is confirmed yet, we've seen numerous Animal Crossing products come Stateside after their Japanese releases. A similar situation may be brewing for the upcoming ACNH merch in June. Dolls, Switch 2 controllers, headsets, and keychains are just a few of the products announced for later in the year, so there should be no shortage of Animal Crossing merchandise in 2026.

So far, Nintendo is still being quiet on a sequel to New Horizons, but in the meantime, fans can at least continue to show their love for the series by grabbing these products. Hopefully, we'll get word of these latest Animal Crossing releases coming to the West soon.
