If you're still playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, odds are you're enjoying the new 3.0 update. It's a massive expansion-sized patch that adds a ton of quality-of-life upgrades and content, and it seems the game isn't fully done yet.
Just recently, Nintendo dropped a patch for New Horizons. While the full patch notes aren't available on the official site yet, players have compiled a list of changes from the in-game notification system (via Nintendo Life).
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Just Got Another Update
Version 3.0.1
When the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update hit, tons of AC fans, whether lapsed or newcomers, poured back into the game. Given how New Horizons was already a massive hit when it came out in 2020, it has a huge baked-in fanbase, so a major patch is a big deal.
But some fans weren't happy with several glitches and bugs in 3.0. Thankfully, some of those have been addressed in 3.0.1, which just dropped.
New Horizons 3.0.1 Update Patch Notes:
- Fixed an issue where the game would run slower than normal after exiting the island hotel to an outdoor area.
- Fixed an issue where, when asking Resetti to clean up the island, fences that were put away or in storage could change into different customizations or be duplicated, and some cleaned-up items could disappear.
- Fixed an issue where Timmy and Tommy would sometimes stop following the player inside Nook’s Cranny.
- Fixed an issue where items could pop out of a rock before the shovel made contact when hitting it.
- Fixed an issue where, after playing with another player on a slumber island, home remodeling or relocation could become unavailable on the slumber island.
- Fixed an issue where the Camera app installation sequence could play when redeeming the Island Designer license at Nook Stop.
- Fixed an issue where some items were displayed in incorrect positions in the catalog used for photo studios and hotel decorating.
- Other adjustments and corrections were made to improve the gameplay experience.
- The following updates have been made when playing the game on Nintendo Switch 2:
- Fixed an issue where clouds near the horizon could appear misaligned outdoors on the island, causing parts of the sky to show unnaturally.
- Adjusted controller vibration intensity to match the level when playing on Nintendo Switch.
While all these changes might not seem like a big deal, they could affect someone's island they've been working on for 6 years, so fans are already happy that things are becoming more stable.
One element of the 3.0.1 patch that fans seem bummed about is the controller vibration/rumble rollback. Some players thought that the intense rumble was intentional and immersive, and want it back.
This One Isn't As Big As The 3.0 Update, Of Course
It Smooths Some Rough Edges Over
As for me, one of my biggest New Horizons wishlist items (faster load times on Switch 2) hasn't been delivered yet, but there's still time. For now, it's great that the game is at least less buggy.
If you're an Animal Crossing player and haven't tried out the 3.0 update, now might be a good time to give it a try again. A lot has changed, and some of the tedium has been removed.
