The Animal Crossing saga is something of a sore subject for Nintendo fans. Despite its latest entry, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, releasing in 2020 and acting as the perfect bridge for friends during the COVID-19 pandemic, its lack of meaningful updates since has caused quite a bit of frustration. On top of that, Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently celebrated its 6th anniversary, and despite Nintendo releasing a major update for it back in January, news of the next installment is non-existent.
However, fans are here to save the day once again by turning one previous, and often hated, Animal Crossing installment into the best of all time.
Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe Might Be The Best AC Game
According to one user over on r/AnimalCrossing, it is Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe that should be considered "the best AC game." However, if you are not well-versed in the Nintendo franchise, let us take a trip down memory lane. Animal Crossing: City Folk was a Wii-exclusive title launched back in 2008, and it is not unfair to say that it is considered one of the weakest installments in the series. Luckily, modder Aurum had faith in the title and spent time putting their own spin on it, eventually turning it into Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe.
Aiming to fix a bunch of issues users had with the original title, Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe welcomed more character customization, an extended calendar taking us up to 2099, and even reintegrated online functionality. There are also many more items for players to work with, including 94 unreleased items, 239 new villagers, and 35 original items specifically designed by Aurum for the mod. Overall, this is an expansive mod which has turned one of the worst Animal Crossing entries into one of the best.
This Fan-Made Animal Crossing Hack Is Available Now
Animal Crossing: City Folk Deluxe is now available to download for free. Additionally, if you already own a copy of Animal Crossing: City Folk on the Wii, you will be able to use the original Nintendo hardware in order to get it working on its original platform. If you are still not convinced, heading back to Reddit is guaranteed to push you in the right direction.
"I can confidently say CFD is the best AC game, in my opinion," the aforementioned user continued. "City Folk does have plenty of problems, but that’s where the deluxe mod comes in. It adds in every single holiday worldwide, all the lost DLC items, tons more customization (including removing animal tracks), it rebalances some prices, adds online back, and tons more. TLDR: I URGE EVERYONE TO TRY City Folk Deluxe." So there you have it!
