Amy Childs has detailed how a vicious cycle of 'yo-yo dieting' left her lacking body confidence – as she reflected on her weight journey in a new post after sparking concern with her figure.

The 36-year-old TOWIE star's weight previously plummeted to under 7st after she tried skinny jabs and was left stressed due to her mum Julie's ill health.

In a new post on Monday, Amy told how she struggled to lose weight healthily before getting help from nutritionist and trainer Jon Kirk who has built up her strength and taught her about the right foods to eat.

She shared three snaps of herself at various points in her weight journey as she got candid about her relationship with dieting.

Amy penned in her post: 'Time to be really honest with you all. For as long as I can remember… I thought I was doing everything right. I'd diet, cut things out, push myself… and yet I'd always end up back in the same place.

'I was definitely not happy with how I looked and, honestly, not happy with how I felt either, I was dieting all wrong. I wasn't managing my nutrition properly. I wasn't managing my energy. And I definitely wasn't looking after my health the way I thought I was.

'I'd under-fuel, stress, lose a bit of weight, then it would all come back and I'd start the whole thing again. I was in that yo-yo cycle that so many of us get stuck in… that was me.

'What I didn't understand was that it's not just about 'eat less, move more'. There's so much more to it… the different phases, your mindset and actually making it work around your real life. Since working with Jon, that's what has changed everything for me.

'I have learnt SO much and I'm still learning every single day. My food has improved, I feel stronger and I can see changes in my body, my skin and my strength.

'My shoulders have actually built tissue (so random) which is something I never thought I'd be saying. I feel stronger, I feel more confident and, for the first time, I don't feel like I'm stuck in that diet, lose, regain cycle anymore.

'I'm nowhere near finished. This is still very much a work in progress. But it's my journey and it finally feels like I'm heading in the right direction, with proper support behind me.

'If you've felt stuck like I did… I promise there is another way speak to @jon_jkphysique he is the best ☺️.'

Back in May, Amy explained that her beloved mum, Julie, had a heart attack last year which contributed to her weight loss, but she also tried skinny jabs for a brief spell.

'Prior to this I did try skinny jabs I'll be honest with you. I thought to try to lose that little extra baby weight. I was still training and eating healthy, but I wanted that little quick fix. I think I did it for two weeks. I was so ill - I cannot tell you,' Amy revealed.

Amy is mum to Polly, nine, Ritchie, eight, and twins Milly and Billy, three.

Discussing her terrifying experience with skinny jabs on the No Parental Guidance podcast, she confessed, 'I was being sick, nauseous - I thought I was pregnant.

'After two weeks I thought what am I doing, and I never took it ever again. I lost a bit of weight and then all of a sudden my mum had the heart attack, and that's when it went downhill for me.

'I tried the skinny jabs, it didn't work for me, I was so ill. It actually scared me how ill I was. Three days I was in bed for. I thought I've got the kids, really? I've got the kids to look after, they need their mummy.'

She added: 'I don't know what batch I got but it was really bad and I didn't take it ever again...

'I know it works, my mum's friends are all on it, my friends - a lot of people are on it, and they're doing amazing, but it didn't work for me because I was so ill.'

Pressed on whether she still gets scrutinised for her weight, the mum-of-four continued: 'I get it all the time. 'You look terrible at your wedding. You looked so skinny on your wedding...'

'You're a role model for your daughter.' I get it a lot. I get abuse every day.

'When I lost all my weight I must admit, I went so skinny. At one point I was 6 stone 13. Four months after my mum was sick, it was the skinniest I had ever been...

'I couldn't physically train because I had this anxious anxiety with my mum. It's bad, but I'm better now. I train like three times a week. I play padel.'

Earlier this year Amy tied the knot with her partner, Billy Delbosq, 43, who she began dating five years ago, after they met on a night out.

The couple exchanged vows at their legal wedding in Marylebone Town Hall, but will celebrate a second wedding ceremony this month.
