Amber Davies to reprise her role of Elle Woods in a West End run of Legally Blonde - months after being hit by claims of a lingering feud with her understudy

Amber Davies is set to reprise her role of Elle Woods in West End's Legally Blonde The Musical, months after feud rumours with understudy Hannah Lowther.

The former Love Island star, 29, is returning to the stage at London's Coliseum for nine weeks only from March 22 to May 22 next year.

She is currently touring the UK and Ireland with her production of Legally Blonde alongside Hannah.

The musical was overshadowed with claims of a lingering backstage rivalry between Amber and Hannah earlier this year, which they have both furiously denied.

Amber was forced to pull out mid-performance after suffering with a chest infection for a brief period, which meant Italia Conti-trained Hannah stepping in.

The friendly actresses continued to put rumours to bed on Tuesday as Hannah publicly congratulated Amber's comeback following the announcement.

'LONDON, how’s this for a personal essay?!  #LegallyBlondeTheMusical is taking over @LondonColiseum for 9 WEEKS ONLY from March 2027, starring Amber Davies as Elle Woods!' a post revealed on social media.

Hannah reshared the post and wrote in the caption: 'Iconic @amb_d!!!' before adding in the comments: 'THERE SHE IS.'

In the promo vid, Amber got straight back into character with her blonde wig, chic tweed pink suit and matching Louis Vuitton luggage.

Shutting down any rumours of a feud earlier this year, Amber wrote: 'Just to clear things up, I’m not leaving Legally, I’m not taking a break & there is no feud…

'I’m simply just finishing off a set of antibiotics for a chest infection that’s been lingering for over a month...

'What we love and choose to do as a career is so unbelievably taxing on the body, and we are very much not invincible.

'Sickness happens, we are human. And disappointed to see a narrative ran on women who work their ASSES OFF.

'I will be back on stage as soon as I possibly can. I love my @legallyblondeshow company so much and very grateful to have such a supportive team especially @hannahlowther.'

Meanwhile, Hannah separately said: 'One day I hope that we will be able to live in a world where women aren't pit against each other and compared ALL the time...'

She continued: 'A world where we can all succeed, thrive or just simply exist without people trying to tear us down.'

Following her post, Amber quickly showed her support for her understudy, commenting: 'We've got each other always,' alongside a love heart emoji.

The previous UK tour of the show was also hit with criticism from fans as during its last few weeks, many members of the cast were suffering from illness.

During the Milton Keynes show, the show was turned into a ‘concert’ rendition of Legally Blonde. Footage on TikTok showed the cast sat together on stage delivering the lines and musical numbers via a script, angering many fans who bought tickets for the show.

Over summer, Amber revealed she had a theatregoer thrown out after catching them filming the performance.

Video, flash photography, and audio are strictly prohibited during performances to protect copyright laws, ensure union compliance with performers and preserve the live experience.

Taking to Instagram during the interval, Amber shared a video on her Stories urging her followers not to follow suit.

She began: 'This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre. Unfortunately tonight at the Bord Gáis we've got a beautiful audience, but there's just one woman in the front row filming the entirety of Act One has had us all distracted.'

Amber continued: 'It ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night from selfish actions.'

Revealing she reported the theatregoer to staff, Amber added: 'Hopefully she's not back for Act Two, I've asked, can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves.

'But there has been a couple of people filming in Ireland this week and I'm the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door and you will be told and asked to leave.

'So yeah guys, don't film. Let's just enjoy the two and a half hours together, we don't need to film everything. Okay, right I'm gonna go and do Act Two.'
