26 years ago this spring, a new kind of reality show rose from the ashes. The genre had already taken off thanks to productions like MTV’s The Real World, Road Rules, and The Challenge, with the network shifting away from its musical roots and diving into new and uncharted territory. Then, at the turn of the millennium, CBS brought the heat by adding two one-of-a-kind game-based reality titles to their catalogue with the introduction of Big Brother and Survivor. Both shows are still going strong today, with each universe spanning multiple offshoots, but this year, it’s Survivor’s time to shine thanks to the upcoming arrival of Survivor 50. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Spring Preview event, we have a first-look set of images that unveil the competition to come when a slew of familiar faces return for their shot at winning.
Slated for an arrival on February 25, the milestone 50th season of the beloved competition series, where players attempt to outwit, outplay, and outlast their rivals, will put the game in the hands of the real stars — the fans. Ahead of Survivor 50’s debut, those at home were able to vote on options including tribal colors and where the finale and reunion would be held, along with more game-centered decisions that will affect how the players move about their new surroundings.
Our sneak peek images for Survivor 50 include a huge number of familiar faces, including Mike White, who has found massive success in the years since Season 37 thanks to his HBO anthology series The White Lotus. Orange, teal, and magenta bandanas can be seen in each of the shots as the players take their spots and prepare to face off against one another in what we can only imagine being some incredibly difficult missions. We know that the drama will be messy as always, but it looks like the contestants will take that spirit into the challenges, as another photo sees everyone absolutely covered in mud.
Who Else Will Appear in ‘Survivor 50’?
In addition to White, Survivor 50 will — of course — see the return of longtime and fan-favorite host, Jeff Probst. Additionally, the cast includes some of the best players that the series has ever seen, including Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, Colby Donaldson, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Cirie Fields, Ozzy Lusth, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, Aubry Bracco, Chrissy Hofbeck, Christian Hubicki, Angelina Keeley, Rick Devens, Jonathan Young, Dee Valladares, Emily Flippen, Q Burdette, Tiffany Ervin, Charlie Davis, Genevieve Mushaluk, Kamilla Karthigesu, Kyle Fraser, Joe Hunter, Rizo Velovic, and Savannah Louie.
Check out the lineup of images from Survivor 50 above and watch the premiere on February 25. Stay tuned for more TV news from Collider’s Exclusive Preview event all week!
