How to get the "Backroom Espionage" achievement

Secret hideouts in Control Resonant are, well, exactly what they sound like: a series of hideouts that act as a base for a secret organization.

There are six secret hideouts in total and finding one is difficult enough, but to even get into a secret hideout, you'll need to solve a puzzle. Some are more difficult than others, but regardless, you'll need to use a bit of brain power. Luckily, you'll be rewarded with some lore collectibles and a health upgrade point, and if you find them all, you'll earn the "Backroom Espionage" achievement.

Here's where to find every secret hideout in Control Resonant, and how to solve their puzzles.

Downtown secret hideout location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in Downtown is located inside the Atlantis Cafe, which can be found just northwest of the Oldest House.

To solve its puzzle, you need to interact with the electrical box to turn on the power, and then interact with the appliances in order from smallest to largest. However, this puzzle is a little tricky if you didn't notice the radio on the other wall.

Interact with the appliances in the following order:

1. Radio
2. Coffee maker on the right of the refrigerator
3. Coffee maker to the left of the refrigerator
4. Soda dispenser
5. Microwave
6. Refrigerator

Central secret hideout location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in Central is located inside a Wear'Em & Wash'Em laundromat in the southeast corner of Central's eastern region. When you first get there, the entrance will be blocked off by a Hiss barrier. Defeating the enemies outside won't be enough to open the door. Instead, follow the red trails coming out of the barrier to Hiss nodes, which looks like a pile of traffic cones and trash cans, and destroy them. After you get rid of the three nodes, the door will be open.

To solve the puzzle, you'll need to turn on and off a few washing machines. To see which ones you need to interact with, use the number puzzle with ones and zeroes found on the cork board. The ones indicate that the washing machine should be turned on, while the zeroes mean that it should be turned off.

As the first row of numbers has seven digits, it corresponds to the set of seven washing machines. On the opposite wall, you'll find the last two rows, but keep in mind that the left side is the sixth row and the right side is the seventh row.

West Incursion Zone secret hideout location and puzzle location in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in the West Incursion Zone is found inside an Urban Fresh Mart in the southeastern area. To get there, you'll need Shift, which is a traversal ability unlocked from the Incursion Fault in the Parking Garage.

To solve the puzzle inside, "reverse the drink order." To do so, interact with the soda dispenser in the corner of the store, and watch the blinking lights. Three lights will flash, then one, then two, then one again. Head over to the cash register, and input the drink order backwards, which would be 1-2-1-3.

Evacuation Zone secret hideout location and puzzle location in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in the Evacuation Zone is found inside a Könstig Art Gallery just southeast of the "Main Street" fast travel door.

To solve the puzzle inside, you need to flip the light switches so that the spotlight is focused on art pieces that match the following words: journey, windows, thunder, and tides.

Going clockwise around the room, starting with the trio to the left of the front desk, choose the following pieces:

1. Middle
2. Left
3. Left
4. Middle

The Park secret hideout location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in The Park is located inside the Atlantis Cafe in the southeast corner of the zone.

To solve the puzzle, you need to record the orders of tables 1, 5, 4, and 2, use the menu to get their associated letter, and then input that string of letters into the cash register.

The orders are as follows:

• Table 1: Iced Coffee (B)
• Table 5: The Spiciest Chai (D)
• Table 4: Espresso (A)
• Table 2: Caramel Latte (C)

As a result, the cash register code is B-D-A-C.

Unknown secret hideout location and puzzle solution in Control Resonant

The secret hideout in the Unknown is located inside a Pulse Fitness gym on the central island. This is possibly the hardest secret hideout to find, as the Unknown has sideways buildings, upside-down buildings, floating buildings, and, of course, right side up buildings.

The easiest way to get to the gym is to jump from the Oldest House taxi platform, and use Reach to get to the upside-down half of the Unknown. From here, go toward the center, where there will be an intersection of chasms. Follow the sidewalk to the northeast (according to the map as the radar doesn't work in the Unknown), and you'll find the gym on the lowest section.

To solve the puzzle inside, you must interact with the stationary bike, treadmill, and vending machine in a specific order:

1. 0.5 mph on the treadmill
2. 15 mph on the stationary bike
3. Use the vending machine
4. 15 mph on the treadmill
5. 0.5 mph on the stationary bike
