Faith-centered content has had a massive resurgence over the last few years, with audiences turning to big-budget productions as a new way to explore the stories told between the pages of the Bible. Not since Mel Gibson delivered the box office hit The Passion of the Christ has Christianity found such a foothold in modern media as it does today. At the top of the faith-based TV show and film pyramid sits Dallas Jenkins and Prime Video’s series, The Chosen, which has captivated audiences since first securing a fanbase back in 2019 long before it found its way onto one of the world’s most popular streaming services.

Now five seasons deep, The Chosen continues to be praised by its sprawling global audience, which even includes numerous celebrities like Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. With every new set of episodes, the title draws in more and more folks to the fold, with the narrative following closely to the steps that Jesus Christ took during his days of preaching and teaching in the Bible. But soon, the beginning of the end will take hold when The Chosen moves into its sixth season, which will also serve as its penultimate as it follows the final days of Jesus’ (Jonathan Roumie) life in the days leading up to the crucifixion.

Season 5 of The Chosen celebrated a Prime Video release last summer and since then, fans have been eager to learn more about when the title will return to their screens. Although no specific date has yet to be set, Jenkins recently took the stage at ChosenCon in Charlotte, North Carolina (as per The Deseret News) to give fans an updated target for the series’ streaming arrival. According to The Chosen’s creator, the first six episodes of the second to last season are expected to hit Prime Video this fall and will be chased by the Season 6 finale in spring 2027. When it comes to the finale, Jenkins said it will be “essentially a super-sized episode that is going to be released as the theatrical global event all over the world.”

Dallas Jenkins Teases the “Biggest Season” Yet

For those following along, Season 6 will bring about the crucifixion — which is considered to be the biggest event in the Bible by many Christians. While the series has showcased some truly unforgettable biblical moments so far, Jenkins promises that everything they’re about to see will knock the rest to the wayside. “Season 6 is the biggest season we’ve ever done without a close second, it’s taking the longest to film, by far. The visual effects, the translations, especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we’ve ever done.” Then, just around the corner, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever helmer and his team have their eyes set on Season 7, which will kick off with the story of the resurrection and undoubtedly force their focus just as much as Season 6.

The Chosen is now streaming on Prime Video.
