Adrian Grenier Short ‘Self Custody’ Gets Release Dates, Feature Adaptation Being Discussed

5 days ago 9

EXCLUSIVE: Short Self-Custody, starring Adrian Grenier (Entourage) in one of only two screen roles in the past four years, has been picked up for distribution by Inaugural Entertainment following a private screening during the Sundance Film Festival.

Described as a “Bitcoin action-thriller”, the film is produced by TBK Productions and Tucci & Company. The movie will launch March 3 across AVOD platforms Tubi and Plex, followed by a March 10 release on Amazon Prime Video.

Directed by and starring Garrett Patten in his first lead acting role, alongside co-director Fernando Ferro, Self Custody also stars Odette Annable (House), and Olympic gold medalist and UFC fighter Henry Cejudo in his first major acting role. Patten was previously an exec producer on movies including Bandit and In The Hand Of Dante.

Self-Custody and feature You, Always (shot in late ’24, but yet to be released) are the only two projects shot by Entourage and The Devil Wears Prada actor Grenier in the past four years. We hear there are talks about potentially adapting Self-Custody into a feature, with the same core cast returning.

The story “explores the fallout of a lost cryptocurrency fortune and the escalating personal stakes behind financial sovereignty”.

Kevin Weisberg, founder of Inaugural Entertainment, commented: “The streaming audience has evolved. Viewers want the option of premium storytelling with the pacing and intensity of a feature, but without the traditional runtime commitment. Self Custody delivers exactly that,  cinematicscale, real stakes, and cultural relevance. We see enormous upside in this format and are proud to launch it.”

Director Garrett Patten added: “This story was inspired by a real situation that stayed with me, the idea that in the digital age, one mistake can change your life overnight. At its core, Self Custody is about control, and what happens when you lose it.”
