Adria Arjona stars in A24’s Onslaught this summer, but next summer she will be joining the DC Universe in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.
Although Arjona’s role in the James Gunn-directed film has not been disclosed yet, she gave hints that the training for the role has been arduous.
“I have muscles that I’ve never had in my life. I’m training two to three hours a day on a crazy diet,” she said in an interview with Screen Rant. “Drinking coffee is the only thing that keeps me up. And I’m really excited!”
Man of Tomorrow will reunite Arjona with Gunn and Peter Safran. The DC Studios bosses gave Arjona her big break with 2016’s The Belko Experiment.
“I’m excited to be reunited with the family that started everything for me, which is Peter Safran and James Gunn. They gave me my first movie. I wouldn’t have done any of the movies that we’ve spoken about today if not for them,” she said. “I wouldn’t be in Andor if it hadn’t been for Peter Safran and James Gunn, so it feels really f***ing cool and really exciting to reunite with that team and to be in that family. And that’s all I’m going to tell you!”
James Gunn recently shared that filming for Man of Tomorrow had wrapped. The Superman sequel will have David Corenswet reprise his role as Clark Kent and feature Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns, will jump to the big screen in the Superman sequel. Also returning to reprise his Blue Beetle role is Xolo Maridueña, who will play the superhero once again since the 2023 film, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto.
Man of Tomorrow is set to open in theaters on July 9, 2027.
