Ace Combat 8 soars onto the Sony State of Play with a new release date trailer

A new trailer for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has been revealed at today's Sony State of Play livestream. As part of this trailer, we now know the game will release on the 2nd October, 2026.

The trailer shows plenty of high-flying action, beautiful cinematic shots, and some scant story details here and there. All while a lovely orchestral soundtrack accompanies the whole affair, in Ace Combat fashion.

While the story details we get in this trailer are sparse, we do get a few more hints at the nature of the narrative. This includes your role as the Wings of Theve, the mystery at the heart of that title, and the sort of battles you'll be taking part in.

Those who pre-order the game will get a bonus game as a extra sweetener. Ace Combat Zero is getting a modern port, which will be available for free to those willing to order a copy of the latest entry early.
