Disney and ABC land a big win with one of the most beloved shows making its return.
Nearly two days after its series premiere on ABC, Scrubs has already become a massive success for Disney+, as the show is currently trending at #1 on the platform for subscribers in the United States. Starring Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison, the first two episodes have brought the medical sitcom to the top of Disney+'s Top 10 Series in the US Today category.
The success of Scrubs season 10 depends on several factors, primarily due to the fact that the original cast is back and at the center of the series again, unlike the controversial season 9. This time around, J.D. is not here for a few episodes, but is focused as the leading voice again, especially with him now operating as the new Chief of Medicine.
Not only does it encourage viewers of the previous show to tune in from nostalgia, but it also leaves the door open for a new audience to tap in. Medical shows are also, in general, doing well in today's current television climate, while Scrubs also gets to stand out due to its mixture of drama and comedy.
Given the news that more original Scrubs cast members are coming back later this season, this has also become a big factor in the series' success on Disney+. The show has also had a strong reception for its return, currently holding 90% in the Critics' Score and 97% on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.
All new episodes of Scrubs air on Wednesdays at 8:00 PM on ABC.
