A Spoiler-Free Guide On How To Get Saros’ True Ending

8 hours ago 1

Saros is out for digital deluxe edition owners, and is coming out tonight for everyone else. If you want to see all of Housemarque’s story, you’ll have to see the credits twice, but you won’t have to beat the game twice. The process of getting the true ending is mostly straightforward, but there is one major thing to keep in mind if you want to do so. Here’s a spoiler-light walkthrough on how to get it.

The first thing you’ll need to do to see Saros’ secret ending is just finish the game normally. Saros doesn’t have choices or anything like that, so you don’t need to worry about doing any sort of “correct” run. Not yet, at least. Once you finish the last area and beat the final boss, you’ll get an ending and see the credits the first time.

After this, you’ll wake up again in the Passage with a few loose ends to tie up. Saros is pretty good about directing you to exactly where you need to go in its changing world at this point, so just follow the quest markers for a bit. Once you’ve done the runaround and talked to some characters, you’ll have to go back through the game’s final area once more and defeat the final boss. However, this is where things diverge, and your actions can send you down one of two paths.

When you win the fight, the final boss will be staggered and you’ll have the opportunity to strike them down as you did the first time. Do not attack the boss in this weakened state. Doing so will take you down the path of the original ending, and Saros doesn’t have a checkpoint system for you to reload. If you mess this up, you’ll have to reload your save and do the final run and boss fight once more in order to get the true ending.

Instead, walk into the portal that opens up on the battlefield without finishing off the boss. This will take you to the secret ending and wrap up Saros’ story. Well, kind of. The entire game is thriving on ambiguity and you’ll be left with some new questions to ponder. But you will have experienced the extent of Housemarque’s story this way.
