2026 has already proven hugely successful for Netflix, with a tantalizing smorgasbord of new and returning shows still to come. From the Duffer Brothers' Stranger Things: Tales from '85 and a third season of David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo's 3 Body Problem to the Liam Hemsworth-led The Witcher Season 5 and a fourth season of the political thriller The Diplomat, there is something for everyone this year on the world's biggest streamer.

Yesterday, the hottest returning series made its second-season debut as The Straw Hats returned in One Piece. A live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's seminal manga, One Piece, made its Netflix debut in August 2023 and earned such high praise from critics and fans of the original that a second season became inevitable. Although fans had to wait almost three years for the series to return, due in part to significant delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes, Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the rest of the crew have finally returned in a second season subtitled Into the Grand Line.

Following the Season 2 premiere, critics' reviews have been submitted, and an average has been calculated on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Impressively, One Piece Season 2 boasts a perfect 100% score at the time of writing, with audiences awarding a 96% rating. The critics' consensus on the site reads, "One Piece season two offers higher stakes, a larger scope, and plenty of adventure without buckling under the pressure of being a near-perfect live-action adaptation." A synopsis for Season 2 reads:

"Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies."

What Has Collider Said About 'One Piece' Season 2?

For Collider, David Caballero reviewed One Piece Season 2, awarding it a 9/10 and dubbing it "the best adaptation on TV right now." Caballero said, "One Piece has everything going for it to become one of Netflix's all-time best originals, and this new season is proof. Time will tell if the series can continue this streak with its already confirmed Season 3, which is set to adapt the Alabasta arc, but for now, it remains the best live-action adaptation on television, and the competition isn't even remotely close."

One Piece Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
