In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix's Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. Jake has also worked for other publications, including Agents of Fandom

After losing its spot at the top of the charts, the tale of journalist Anna Andrews (Tessa Thompson) and Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) in the crime thriller His & Hers is back on the throne at the time of writing. However, having debuted almost three weeks ago on January 8, and with the miniseries only featuring six episodes in total, most Netflix subscribers have already completed their binge of His & Hers. So, what to watch next? With an endless catalog of options available, how do you make up your mind? To help you find your next favorite series, here's a list of three shows you should give a try on Netflix this week.

3 'Finding Her Edge' (2026)

Rotten Tomatoes: 100% | IMDb: 5.6/10

A list of recommendations for this week on Netflix would be incomplete without the streamer's newest must-watch romantic drama, Finding Her Edge. Dubbed by some as Netflix's The Summer I Turned Pretty replacement, Finding Her Edge tells the tale of Adriana Russo (Madelyn Keys) and Brayden Elliot (Cale Ambrozic), a pair of talented skaters who pretend to be in a relationship to try and gain sponsorship.

Based on Jennifer Iacopelli's novel of the same name, Finding Her Edge is the perfect easy watch for you this winter week. In Isabella Soares' review of the series for Collider, she said, "All things considered, if you're looking for a YA drama that is easy-to-watch, aimless fun, Finding Her Edge does fit the bill." With the series already finding its place in the streaming charts, don't miss out.

2 'The Upshaws' (2021–2026)

Rotten Tomatoes: 87% | IMDb: 7.0/10

Another new arrival to Netflix this month is the seventh and final season of The Upshaws. Starring Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes, this multi-camera sitcom follows the ups, downs, and in-betweens of a working-class Black family in Indiana. With no rule book on how to make life a success, The Upshaws seem to fall into every hilarious trap.

One of the most underrated comedic offerings on Netflix right now, given that The Upshaws has just debuted its final season, there has arguably been no better time to start watching. In its five-year run, this clever, sidesplitting series has been nominated for an impressive eight Primetime Emmys, as well as earning a People's Choice Award nomination for Best Comedy Show in 2021.

1 'The Following' (2013–2015)

Rotten Tomatoes: 58% | IMDb: 7.4/10

For a psychological horror sure to keep you hooked all week, look no further than The Following. Starring the ever-brilliant Kevin Bacon, the series follows the terrifying realization of a network of communication between the hundreds of serial killers active in the U.S. What happens when one charismatic killer decides to bring them together in a cult-like manner?

Over a decade before he starred in another horror-adjacent series, The Bondsman, Bacon was bringing this twisted, gripping series to life with a performance worthy of praise. A thriller that ticks all the boxes, The Following might not prove revolutionary, but it has more than enough quality to make good use of your time this week.
