This week, the thriller drama series Scarpetta is at the very top of Prime Video’s TV rankings. Starring Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, the series is a long-awaited adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling novels, and it quickly became a worldwide number one hit after its premiere last week. But if you’re already done binging the new mystery show, or if you’re in the mood for something a little different, there are plenty of other options to explore on the streaming service. Here’s a look at three great shows that we think you should binge on Prime Video this week.

1 ‘On Call’ (2025)
Created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, On Call is a police procedural drama that follows officers of California’s Long Beach Police Department. Starring Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente, the series primarily revolves around senior training officer Traci Harmon (Bellisario) and rookie officer Alex Diaz (Larracuente), exploring their day-to-day lives and an overarching investigation into the murder of a fellow police officer. The show also features Eriq LaSalle, Lori Loughlin, Robert Bailey Jr., Rich Ting, Mac Brandt, and Lobo Sebastian in supporting roles.
A half-hour series that was originally developed for the now-defunct IMDb TV, On Call had fairly mixed reviews, and it’s not one of the better-known dramas on Prime Video, but it is a lot more interesting than it gets credit for. Bellisario and Larracuente’s performances and chemistry are a highlight, as is the show's shorter-than-usual half-hour runtime, because of which the episodes have much tighter writing than is common in the genre. Sadly, despite strong viewership numbers, On Call was cancelled after just one season.
2 ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ (2023)
Developed by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, Daisy Jones & the Six is a musical drama miniseries adapted from the 2019 novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Set primarily in 1970s Los Angeles, the show chronicles the rise and fall of the titular rock band through a series of documentary-style interviews, concert footage, and recording sessions. Riley Keough and Sam Claflin star as the lead singer-songwriters, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, with Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, Nabiyah Be, Tom Wright, and Timothy Olyphant in other main cast roles.
Reid’s original novel is a major bestseller with an inventive, experimental narrative style, which the show successfully adapts with its mockumentary-esque format. When it premiered in 2023, Daisy Jones & the Six was a resounding success with viewers, earning praise for that very inventiveness, as well as its music and performances. The series went on to receive several accolades as well, including nominations for nine Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes.
3 ‘Bates Motel’ (2013–2017)
Developed by Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin, and Anthony Cipriano, Bates Motel is a psychological horror drama show that serves as a modernized prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1960 film Psycho. The series is centered on Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga), who move to the coastal Oregon town of White Pine Bay to start a new life, but are haunted by their past and the consequences of Norman’s mental illness. The show also features Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell, and Kenny Johnson in significant roles.
Arguably one of the best adaptations of Hitchcock’s Psycho, Bates Motel was critically acclaimed throughout its five-season run on A&E, earning praise for its skillful storytelling, compelling performances, and sharp characterizations. It’s an intensely suspenseful mystery thriller that successfully honors its legendary source material while delivering an original narrative that’s equally gripping and complex. The series garnered several accolades in its day, including a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama, and it earned Farmiga an Emmy nomination and a Saturn Award win for her performance.
