An experienced Editor representing Canada via ScreenRant's Team Anime, J.R. has been reading manga since the first printing of Shonen Jump in North America. This passion drove him to write about anime, manga, and manhwa since 2022, having recently served as Lead Anime Editor for ComicBook.com.

His favorite moments in media coverage include reviewing the series premieres of Zom 100 and Bleach: TYBW Part 2 back-to-back and briefly meeting Junji Ito at a VIZ gallery event in 2023.

Few years can compare to the run 2025 had in the world of anime and film. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle kicked the medium's box office record hundreds of millions higher worldwide, Chainsaw Man's big return attained critical acclaim, and fandoms around the world hoped their franchise would be next for such a treatment. But beyond news of One Piece's two newly-announced films, one more thrilling development for another exceptional anime movie is coming before 2026 ends. Adapting another of manga creator Uoto's beloved series after Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, 100 Meters is coming for a stunning new home Blu-ray release beyond last year's Netflix streaming debut.

Set to be exclusively available through the GKIDS online store starting on December 1, 2026, 100 Meters will bring its magic home with a new Collector's Edition Blu-ray release. ScreenRant is proud to announce first that GKIDS has preorders available NOW exclusively through their online store, giving fans a chance to put a piece of anime history on display or safely stored in their physical media collection.

100 Meters Opens Preorders For Home Blu-Ray Collector's Edition

Featuring stunning rotoscope animation and keen directorial work by Kenji Iwaisama (On-Gaku: Our Sound), 100 Meters won over its audience with a thrilling tale of competition, and a sobering exploration of what competition and the sport of running inspire in others. The 100 Meters Collector's Edition Blu-ray joins other recently-announced products from GKIDS like 4K home releases for Angel's Egg, LOVE & POP, and LINDA LINDA LINDA, as well as the acclaimed adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back. Sure to become a hot-ticket item among anime aficionados, 100 Meters' release follows other GKIDS exclusives lately, with its own bonus goodies attached.

The 100 Meters Collector's Edition Blu-ray release will include the following promo items and bonus features:

Five exclusive art cards featuring key characters from the film
Mini-poster
Interview with Director Kenji Iwaisawa
Rotoscoping Workshop
Scene Breakdowns
Teasers & Trailers

For those who haven't had the chance to see 100 Meters, this is also a solid chance to watch an instant anime keeper, a stunning memento of a truly solid collaboration among Rock 'n' Roll Mountain's exceptional team. To mark the occasion, GKIDS is also dropping a brand-new trailer to YouTube to entice newcomers and hype up fans already in the know all the same.

100 Meters Is Further Proof Anime Had A Stellar Year In Cinema With 2025

The flashy work of venerated fan-favorite anime studios like Ufotable and MAPPA made Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man the franchises to beat in 2025's cinema arena. 100 Meters existed as a shonen sports manga adaptation with the poor fortune of not being named Slam Dunk or Haikyu!! But instead of box office glory, its stunning, wonderfully expressive animation and fascinating story of the prodigious sprinter Togashi and Komiya, the transfer student he props up as his rival to challenge him more than a decade later won adoration and accolades all the same.

100 Meters' staff includes renowned industry talent like Yasuyuki Muto (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway), and composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Jujutsu Kaisen) to bring Uoto's story to life. As the film follows Togashi from childhood, to adolescence, to adulthood all while he strives for greatness in the world's most prestigious track & field sprint race, exploring the question of why one might dedicate their lives and time to such a technically short event. It explores finding motivation beyond just validating one's talents, and so much more. Now, on December 1, 2026, fans will be able to relive that experience at home, and dive into the other insights this Collector's Edition has to offer.
