Adam Blevins began working in the entertainment industry in 2022 as a Staff Writer for Agents of Fandom, where he progressed to Senior Editor and interviewed talent from Marvel Studios, House of the Dragon, and Planet of the Apes. He joined Collider as a News Author in April 2024, was promoted to a Senior position in December 2024, and has written over 3,000 articles for the site, including exclusives relating to Avengers: Doomsday, The Penguin, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, and more. He primarily writes about the latest box office numbers and the hottest movies and TV shows on streaming, while also covering superhero and sci-fi news. He has completed a set visit for The Chosen and even has several months of experience writing Gaming Features at ScreenRant. You can find him on X, LinkedIn, and Muckrack.
Ryan Gosling first arrived as a star with his performance as Noah in The Notebook (2004), but in the more than 20 years since, he’s featured in some of the more underrated movies of the century. He’s teamed up with Emma Stone for critically acclaimed romantic epics like La La Land, and also worked with legendary actors like Russell Crowe on cult classic comedies like The Nice Guys. Gosling recently earned the third Oscar nomination of his career for his performance opposite Margot Robbie in Barbie, and he’s due to star in one of the biggest sci-fi movies of the year soon with Project Hail Mary.
However, 11 years ago, Gosling was one of many considerable names recruited to star in The Big Short, the massively successful financial thriller following a group of investors in 2006 and 2007 who bet against the United States mortgage market. The film also features Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Jeremy Strong, Hamish Linklater, Rafe Spall, and more, and it grossed $133 million at the global box office. Due to its modest $28 million budget, The Big Short became one of the most profitable financial thrillers ever made.
At the time of writing, The Big Short is streaming exclusively on Paramount+. The film is a Paramount production, so it’s unlikely to leave the platform for another streamer anytime soon. However, in several markets around the world, The Big Short has surged back into the VOD top 10 on Apple TV in more than five countries. Adam McKay directed The Big Short with a script he wrote with Charles Randolph, and the film won the Oscar in 2016 for Best Adapted Screenplay. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Michael Lewis.
‘The Big Short’ Is Perfect for ‘Succession’ Fans
Coming in with a runtime of 130 minutes, The Big Short is the perfect watch for fans missing HBO’s hit series, Succession. Not only is there some overlap in the cast with Jeremy Strong playing a vital role in both projects, but there are some painfully obvious similarities between the two. While Succession is more of a family drama, and The Big Short follows a group of coworkers trying to profit from the volatile housing market, both projects feature some of the same business terminology.
Be sure to watch The Big Short on Paramount+ and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
