10 years ago, most people didn’t know who Anya Taylor-Joy was, but now she’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world. She’s soon to reprise her role as Princess Peach opposite Chris Pratt in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and she’ll also star in a new Apple TV series that’s set to arrive this summer. Taylor-Joy is fresh off a pair of big sci-fi movies in 2024 and 2025, Furiosa and The Gorge. The former is a Mad Max prequel co-starring Marvel veteran Chris Hemsworth, and the latter is an Apple TV original creature feature co-starring Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick).

10 years ago, one of Taylor-Joy’s breakout roles came from starring opposite James McAvoy in Split, the thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film cost only $9 million to make, but it proved to be more than a worthy investment by grossing over $278 million at the global box office. Split was met with a mostly strong response from critics and audiences, which led to it earning marks of 79% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The film follows a trio of girls who are kidnapped by a man with dissociative identity disorder who has 23 personalities, but they must escape before the 24th emerges.

Although it’s been 10 years since Split first hit theaters, the film has aged well, and fans continue to rewatch it and discover it for the first time on streaming. This has led to it charging back into the Apple TV global top 10 on VOD in several countries around the world. In addition to Taylor-Joy and McAvoy, Split also stars Haley Lu Richardson, Betty Buckley, and Jessica Sula.

Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh will also star in the sci-fi blockbuster, which is opening on the same day as Avengers: Doomsday.
