The Eminence in Shadow is a hilarious isekai series featuring amazing fights, strong characters, and rich storytelling that never takes itself too seriously and is not afraid to poke fun at the genre. Minoru Kagenou dreamed in his previous life of becoming a vigilante, using a pair of crowbars and a ton of martial arts training to fight wrongdoers wherever he could find them. When he's killed by a truck, he is reborn into a new world as Cid, finally getting his chance to become "the eminence in shadow" he always wanted to be, the cool but mysterious character who appears out of nowhere and then disappears into the night.
Shadow is the strongest character in the series, and it's not even close. While Shadow's blatantly broken abilities might be a detriment to other shows, they're one of the best reasons to watch The Eminence in Shadow. Cid's Seven Shadows, or the strongest people in his covert organization, Shadow Garden, also bring a lot of explosiveness to the series. They realize their leader is well and above them in terms of power, and do what they can to support him from the shadows.
10 Eta
Shadow Garden's Chief Engineer
Eta is the eighth member of Shadow Garden and its Chief Engineer. When Cid was first building Shadow Garden, he told them tales of his previous world but acted like they were just stories. This led his Shadows to adopt traits of the people he was talking about. Eta heard his stories of architecture and engineering in Cid's previous world and decided to become an engineer herself. While she's a relatively laid-back character, she's focused on Shadow Wisdom and works hard to attain more.
Eta's in the middle of the pack in terms of the strongest warriors in Shadow Garden. Her normal, lethargic way of moving doesn't do her many favors either. She wins her fights by overwhelming her opponents, using her Slime powers to create a myriad of Slime Spears to send directly at her foe. Eta can even create and use multiple slime weapons at once, allowing her to attack and defend at the same time.
9 Beta
Beta the Steadfast
Beta is the third initial member of Shadow Garden and the group's author. Growing up, Cid would tell her fairy tales like Cinderella and Snow White to help her get to sleep. Now a bit older, she rewrites the stories from Cid's old world, without his knowledge, and sells them to the public. Beta has made quite a name for herself as Natsume Kafka the author, donating her earnings to Shadow Garden.
Beta's fighting style is the closest to her leader, Shadow's, earning her the nickname Beta the Steadfast. She's usually one of the vanguards of the Seven Shadows, getting up close and personal with her enemies before dispatching them. In the game, she uses an elaborate compound bow to provide support from a distance. Beta is an expert at placing her shot exactly where she intends to, pinning her opponents in place before another Shadow comes to finish them off.
8 Zeta
Head of Shadow Garden's Recon Division
The seventh initial member of Shadow Garden, Zeta is a Therianthrope who heads up the group's Recon Division. She's from the Golden Leopard Clan with blonde hair, purple ears, and a striking resemblance to her ancestor Lily. She's smarter and much more collected than fellow Therianthropes like Delta, but she has a hard time relying on the people around her, often choosing to go at it herself. If it wasn't for her inability to work with others, she'd be a lot stronger.

Even though she prefers to work solo, Zeta is no pushover. Her swordsmanship level would be the best in Shadow Garden if her work ethic matched her talent. As the head of the espionage division, she's incredibly stealthy and can blend into any environment. Zeta is also one of the most proficient Shadows in magic, using it to turn into a mist that can't be seen by most other characters.
7 Beatrix
The War Goddess
Beatrix is one of the cooler characters in The Eminence in Shadow. She has an aloof attitude most of the time, snacking on various foods at the Bushin Festival while she searches for her niece, Alpha. She shares a funny dialogue with Cid where they go back and forth as to whether or not he's seen any other elves that look like her. Cid has to lie to her, as she does bear an uncanny resemblance to the leader of the Seven Shadows.
Beatrix is called the War Goddess for a reason. She was the winner of the first-ever Bushin Festival and has the skills to back it up. While she's not the best with magic, her abilities with her sword are almost as good as Shadows. She was able to put up a decent fight against him with the help of Iris Midgar during the Bushin Festival as well.
6 Olivier
The Elf Hero With the Holy Sword
Alpha and Beatrix's ancestor, Olivier, is one of the Three Heroes to defeat the evil demon, Diablos. In reality, she was a pawn used by the Cult of Diablos to do their bidding. She was implanted with the DNA of Diablos as an experiment by the Cult. She survived the experiment and gained a ton of power because of it. After being trapped in the Sanctuary, however, Olivier is a shadow of her former self.
When she fights Shadow, she's one of the few characters to hurt him. She stabs him several times, and if she had fought anyone other than the leader of Shadow Garden, she would have won. Sanctuary then summoned dozens of Oliviers to fight at once, but they were no match for Shadow. Shadow did note that this version of Olivier must have paled in comparison to the Hero in her prime.
5 Delta
Shadow Garden's Most Talented Physical Fighter
Delta is the fifth member of Shadow Garden and the group's strongest fighter physically. Delta is such a whirlwind on the battlefield, she's given her own division by Alpha. She's a walking one-man army who is almost too happy to get into a fight. Delta adopts a might-makes-right philosophy, killing her brother for being weak and following Shadow because he's the strongest. She's all too excited at the idea of Shadow defeating her father and becoming king of the Theriantropes too.
Delta fights using one simple technique: brute force. She tried using a katana before realizing she'd rather just obliterate her opponents with her bare hands. She flies at her enemies on all fours, rushing them like a boar. If she's within running distance, her enemy's chances are slim to none. She can pounce like a tiger and move faster than a gazelle.
4 Alpha
The Leader of the Seven Shadows
Alpha has a lot going for her. She was the first person to be found by Shadow when he cured her of her demonic possession. Since her revival, she's chosen to live her life in service to Shadow. She's an incredibly intelligent character who ends up becoming the de facto leader of Shadow Garden while her boss is out galavanting. Alpha is also the reincarnation of the Elf Hero Olivierand the niece of the War Goddess Beatrix.
Alpha is the strongest of the Seven Shadows and the strongest member in Shadow Garden outside of her leader. When they were children, her magical reserves were said to surpass even Shadow's, and she's one of the few Shadows in Shadow Garden to use healing abilities. When Alpha gains vampire powers, she gets the ability to transform into a formless mist, allowing her to float around the battlefield without any risk of taking damage.
3 Elisabeth
The Blood Queen
Elisabeth is known as the Blood Queen and is the progenitor of all vampires in The Eminence in Shadow. She's a unique vampire in that she wants her species to coexist with humans, not feed on them. She's a kind-hearted person who wants the best for everyone around her and is willing to abstain from human blood if it means not hurting a human. She once destroyed several countries entirely in just a few days, showcasing her catastrophic power on a national scale.

When she consumes human blood, Elisabeth is stronger than all the Seven Shadows. As the vampire progenitor, Elisabeth has superhuman strength, speed, and senses, making her a tank on the battlefield. She holds her own with a sword against Shadow for a long time, and can regenerate through almost all of his attacks. If the Red Moon was constantly up, there probably wouldn't be any characters stronger than Elisabeth the Blood Queen.
2 Aurora
Better Known as Diablos
When Shadow appeared at the Sanctuary, he was set to face an opponent with a power level similar to his own. Out came the Witch of Calamity Aurora, better known as the world-ending demon Diablos. When Aurora was a child, the Cult did a lot of experiments on her. They infused her with different substances, including demon DNA, to give her a host of terrible powers. She turned into the Demon King Diablos, an evil figure capable of massive destruction.
When she came back to fight Shadow, she was exceptional. She used her magic to keep him at bay for most of the fight, pushing him away through a series of blood magic attacks. When she's finally defeated, she reincarnates herself into Claire's body, giving her a chance to fight another day. She's now teaching Claire how to control her magic better and how to trust Shadow more. If Aurora is able to come back to the series in her own body, at full strength, Shadow may have finally found the person to defeat him.

The Eminence in Shadow Himself
Shadow is so strong that it's hilarious. He's never really challenged in The Eminence in Shadow, and that's one of the series' best points. There's a decent chance that Shadow could defeat every other character in the series at once thanks to his insane I Am Atomic powers as well, highlighting just how broken he is. In his previous life, Minoru Kagenou spent his days training to become the Stylish Ruffian Slayer, a vigilante who used martial arts and crowbars to beat bandits down.
