10 Netflix-Marvel TV Characters Who Need To Rejoin The MCU After Luke Cage & Iron Fist

2 weeks ago 11

Marvel Studios has done a lot of work in recent years to integrate the Netflix-era Marvel TV shows into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox's return as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D'Onofrio's return as Kingpin in Hawkeye brought these worlds together officially, with Daredevil: Born Again fully integrating the Netflix shows.

Her return brings the MCU one step closer to reuniting the Defenders, and we now know that's coming. Mike Colter and Finn Jones have been spotted on set, confirming that Luke Cage and Iron Fist are in Daredevil: Born Again season 3. Their presences mean a lot of the major Netflix-era Marvel characters are in a Marvel Studios production now.

But not everyone has officially moved from the Netflix shows to a project with the MCU's full support. There are still some significant, fan-favorite characters, both heroes and villains, who are waiting for their chance to return. Whether in Born Again season 3, The Punisher: One Last Kill, or another MCU production, these are the ones who need to get calls next.

Colleen Wing

Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) as Iron Fist in Iron Fist season 2

With Danny Rand back in the fold, the MCU really should look at bringing the universe's other active Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, back next. Jessica Henwick played the skilled martial artist in both seasons of Iron Fist, a guest spot on Luke Cage season 2, and The Defenders. Her story is far from over.

The last time we saw Colleen in Iron Fist season 2's ending, she was mastering her chi-manipulating abilities and fighting crime in New York as the new Iron Fist. This was supposed to be the beginning of her journey as Danny's replacement, but the show's cancellation never allowed for more. Marvel Studios should change that.

After all, the actress has a love for the character and has been around the MCU. She was up for a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but Henwick also confirmed she visited Born Again season 2's set. Even though she denied it was to take part in a role, perhaps it was to help her show Marvel Studios does things ahead of Colleen's return.

Misty Knight

Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) in Luke Cage season 2

Luke Cage's return could pave the way for Misty Knight's return to action. Simone Missick played the NYPD detective in both seasons of Luke Cage, a recurring role in Iron Fist, and a supporting one in The Defenders. And due to how the Netflix universe collapsed, her arc is unresolved.

An MCU return for Misty could show whether she remained a cop and pursued a captain position or broke free of the system to help people another way, such as starting Heroes for Hire. Depending on how Born Again season 2 leaves the state of vigilantism in New York, there could be a real need for Misty's ability to assemble local heroes.

Elektra

Elektra Natchios is perhaps the biggest Daredevil character who hasn't returned in the MCU through the first two seasons of Born Again. Elodie Yung brought The Hand's deadly assassin to life in Daredevil season 2 and The Defenders, which featured her death in a rather conclusive fashion.

Yet, Elektra was already resurrected once before, so it's quite possible the MCU could do it again. With The Hand set as a villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there could be various opportunities for Marvel Studios to bring Yung back in this role.

Claire Temple

Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) in Jessica Jones

Marvel Studios is clearly reviving the entire Defenders universe with Luke Cage and Iron Fist's returns, so it's only fair that they bring back the character that served as a connecting thread through all the shows: Claire Temple. Rosario Dawson played the night nurse in every Netflix-Marvel production, other than The Punisher.

Claire has had a very close, romantic relationship with Luke in the past, so it would be quite easy for Marvel to bring her back in a similar capacity. If internet rumors are to be believed, Dawson may be reprising this role sooner than Born Again season 3, too.

Mary Walker

Mary Walker aka Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve) in Iron Fist season 2

Alice Eve's Mary Walker, aka Typhoid Mary, is one of the best things to come from Iron Fist season 2. The former soldier and mercenary has dissociative identity disorder, and she was meant to have a much bigger role in the Netflix universe. Mary was planned to be Daredevil season 4's villain before plans were canceled.

The MCU has taken Daredevil's story in a different direction with Born Again, but there's still plenty of potential within Typhoid Mary that can be explored in the future. She'd make for a great villain in other street-level New York stories that could come as Marvel keeps building out this corner of the universe.

Trish Walker

Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) in Jessica Jones season 3

As Jessica Jones prepares to re-enter the universe, it'd make sense for one of her closest acquaintances to return. Trish Walker gained superpowers to become Hellcat during her three season arc on Jessica Jones, with Rachael Taylor also reprising her role in Luke Cage and The Defenders.

Hellcat could come back in several ways, with Walker last seen in the midst of transport to The Raft. That puts her in the company of Thaddeus Ross, Baron Zemo, and The Leader. If a prison outbreak ever takes place, it's possible Marvel Studios could free Walker from her current location.

Kilgrave

David Tennant as Kilgrave looking menacingly into the distance in Jessica Jones season 1

David Tennant turned Kilgrave into one of the MCU's best villains through his run on Jessica Jones. And although the mind-controlling villain was killed by Jessica in season 1 of her show, the trauma he's associated with has haunted the private investigator long after.

Now that Jessica is on the brink of returning, it would make sense for Kilgrave to come back in some capacity. Jessica Jones season 3 ended with him taunting her once more, which is why she opts against retiring and leaving New York. More hallucinations of Kilgrave could come, or perhaps he'll find another avenue to return.

Jeri Hogarth

Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) in Jessica Jones season 3

Jeri Hogarth is a powerful lawyer who had a memorable role to play throughout Jessica Jones. Portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss, she's one of the most notable figures in New York's law circle and also appeared in Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

Jeri's path to an MCU role could come through Jessica, as she frequently hired the private investigator to help on various cases, allowing them to develop a friendship. She's also served as Danny's lawyer in the past, so he could look for her help again after coming back to New York in Born Again season 3.

Ward Meachum

Danny's return could also open the door for Ward Meachum to come back. His former nemesis turned friend was a staple of Iron Fist, with Tom Pelphrey acting as one of the brightest spots in the show. His return would make a ton of sense with where his story ended on the original series.

Ward was last seen with Danny in Japan as they continued their quest to find Orson Randall. That mission is likely over with Danny's return to New York, so Ward also could be somewhere nearby. The MCU could build on this friendship depending on what is in store for Iron Fist's future.

Turk Barrett

Turk Barrett (Rob Morgan) in Luke Cage season 2

The restoration of the Defenders-verse must include the linchpin to the whole thing: Turk Barrett. Rob Morgan played the low-level criminal throughout every installment of Netflix's Marvel universe. It's made Turk the only character to appear in every Netflix-Marvel show.

So far, he hasn't returned for Daredevil: Born Again, but with season 3, Punisher's Special Presentation, and who knows what else on the horizon, Marvel Studios should absolutely bring back the fan-favorite crook. It's only right that he gets to continue uniting the street-level side of the MCU.
