Invincible is, without a doubt, one of the most popular animated series at the moment. Developed by the incredible Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa, this series is based on the ever-popular comic book of the same name and centers on Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), the titular superhero. Despite what his name might suggest, Invincible is not, well, invincible. In fact, it's a bit of a gag in the show at times that Mark is actually quite "vincible."
So, this, of course, has begged the many questions that always seem to come in the comic book space: who would be able to beat Invincible in a fight? A fun question is which of his fellow animated heroes could tussle with the young hero and come out on top. Whether they're from Marvel, DC, or outside of those two titans, a few animated heroes could most likely beat the snot out of this so-called "invincible" hero.
Scarlet Witch - 'Wolverine and the X-Men' (2008–2009)
Image via Marvel AnimationAnyone who has seen this character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows for a fact that she is one of the strongest superheroes of all time. In the comics, the Scarlet Witch has even erased all mutants by whispering just a few words. Safe to say, she's absurdly powerful, and that goes for all of her adaptations. However, she shows off her incredible magic abilities most accurately in Wolverine and the X-Men.
The fact that she has vast and often uncontrollable reality-altering magic proves well enough that she could take on Invincible, no problem. Wanda Maximoff (Kate Higgins) is not to be messed with. She has experience battling villains and other heroes like Invincible—who rely on brute strength—so going toe-to-toe with Mark should be no problem for her.
Doctor Fate - DC Animated Universe
Image via Warner Bros. AnimationBefore Marvel had Doctor Strange, DC Comics hit the newsstands with Doctor Fate, one of the most powerful magic users in the DC Universe. One of his best adaptations appears throughout the DC Animated Universe, not to be confused with the DC Animated Movie Universe, which primarily takes place on television. This underrated hero appears in Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited.
Every time Doctor Fate (Oded Fehr and George DelHoyo) hits the screen, he impresses viewers with his immense abilities. Much like Scarlet Witch, this sorcerer has shown some ridiculous power. Moreover, he has considerably more experience. The gold-headed hero has had years upon years to perfect his skills and abilities, making him proficient against more amateur people like Mark.
The Flash - DC Animated Universe
Image via Warner Bros. AnimationThe Flash is, by far, one of the coolest DC Comics characters out there, and one of his most famous iterations is found in the DC Animated Universe. Sure, Invincible can be fast, but no one outruns The Flash (Charlie Schlatter and Michael Rosenbaum). Wally West may not have super strength, but he doesn't need it with the kinds of things he can accomplish and has accomplished in the DCAU.
One of the most impressive feats that The Flash accomplished was when the Justice League faced Brainiac (Corey Burton and Clancy Brown). The Scarlet Speedster ran so dang fast that he was almost pulled into the Speed Force. The power he holds is absurd, and this moment specifically proves that Flash can still hit like a tank if he uses his momentum from his speed to assist his attacks.
Doctor Strange - 'Doctor Strange' (2007)
Image via Marvel AnimationEverybody knows and loves Marvel Comics' world-renowned sorcerer, Doctor Strange, who actually got a 2007 animated solo film, Doctor Strange, before he ever made his debut in the MCU. Indeed, the Sorcerer Supreme was showing off his power far before he hit the live-action medium. If one were to watch this underrated '07 flick, they'd come to the conclusion that this Doctor Strange (Bryce Johnson) could definitely take on Invincible.
Much like Doctor Fate, Doctor Strange may not be as absurdly powerful as the Scarlet Witch; however, he has far more experience and, it must be said, wisdom — after all, they don't call him the Master of the Mystic Arts for nothing! Stephen Strange has skills unlike any other in the Marvel universe, whereas Mark may have been Invincible for a while now, but he doesn't have nearly enough experience to combat someone like the good doctor.
Ghost Rider - 'Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.' (2013–2015)
Image via Marvel AnimationGhost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance, has been around Marvel's animated sphere for quite some time now. However, one of his most impressive appearances is surprisingly found on a television series that no one really cared too much about: Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. That's right, Ghost Rider (Fred Tatasciore) makes an appearance in the Season 2 episode "Spirit of Vengeance" that quite easily confirms his ability to win over Invincible.
In the comic books, Ghost Rider is quite strong, and his cosmic-level power can be seen in this episode. This flame-headed Marvel anti-hero takes on a whopping six Hulk-like characters all on his own. He fights Hulk (Fred Tatasciore), Red Hulk (Clancy Brown), Abomination (Robin Atkin Downes), Skaar (Ben Diskin), A-Bomb (Seth Green), and She-Hulk (Eliza Dushku) by himself. Ghost Rider is an absolute menace, and if he can take on all of those raging titans, Invincible should be easy for him to tackle.
Thor - 'The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes' (2010–2012)
Image via Marvel AnimationIf it isn't already obvious from the fact that Thor (Rick D. Wasserman) is quite literally a god, there are dozens of feats he has accomplished—in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, specifically—to prove that he can take on Invincible. Honestly, Thor could take on most Viltrumites. Earth's Mightiest Heroes is often considered the most accurate and well-depicted version of the characters, and it's specifically true for Thor.
Thor accomplishes many feats in this show that prove his worth, and then some. It could take quite a while to list all the amazing things he does, but some of the best examples really sum all of it up for him. Thor destroys an entire black hole all by himself, brings Galactus to his knees, and can even fly up into Earth's orbit in just around 5–6 seconds. In short, he lives up to his title as the God of Thunder.
Superman - The DC Animated Universe
If The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is one of the best interpretations of the Marvel universe, the DC Animated Universe is one of the best adaptations of the DC Comics lore. This universe's Superman (George Newbern) is such a shining version of the character, both in characterization and power scaling. By just flicking his finger, this version of Superman was able to hit a giant gorilla across an entire football field.
Across the entirety of the DCAU, the Man of Steel performs some great feats. One of the best is how he lifts an entire skyscraper above his head in Batman Beyond. Remember when Invincible had immense trouble keeping the top half of a building upright by himself, which he ultimately failed to do? If Superman can contend in fan discussion against the likes of Son Goku (Masako Nozawa and Sean Schemmel), Invincible stands no chance.
Izuku Midoriya - 'My Hero Academia' (2016–2025)
Image via Studio BonesInvincible isn't the only young hero out there who has strength unlike any other. The one and only Izuku Midoriya (Daiki Yamashita and Justin Briner), also known as Deku, from My Hero Academia, is a powerhouse beyond belief. By the final season of My Hero Academia, Deku has unlocked every single power within One For All, and is, quite easily, the strongest hero in-universe.
The variety in Deku's power set, his skill at using them, and his never-ending determination make this young hero an extremely powerful foe that a lot of the villains in My Hero Academia find profound fear in by the time he reaches his vigilante era. With multiple powers—each super dang strong on their own—and the headstrong personality he has, many would argue that Invincible would not last long against the 9th user of One For All.
Ben Tennyson - 'Ben 10: Omniverse' (2012–2014)
Image via Cartoon NetworkThere aren't many people on the planet who don't know who the iconic Ben Tennyson (Tara Strong (10-year-old) and Yuri Lowenthal (teenager)) is. When Ben 10 premiered all the way back in 2005, Man of Action had to have known they were in for a ride, thanks to how popular the show became. Over the many years of the franchise, Ben Tennyson has grown in strength, number of aliens, and experience, and by the time fans see him in Ben 10: Omniverse, he's awesomely powerful.
Ben has an alien hero for simply every single occasion, and has fought foes stronger than Invincible ten times over. Dozens upon dozens of Ben's aliens could be powerful enough to defeat Invincible; that alone should be the proof in the pudding. However, Ben has one alien that makes it possible for him to defeat pretty much everyone: Alien X. This alien survived the destruction of a universe, and created an entirely new one from the ground up—an almost exact copy. Ben used to not be able to control this alien at free will, but, in Ben 10: Omniverse Season 6, Episode 8, "Universe vs. Tennyson," he gains full control of the universe-creating/altering alien. It's arguable that there's really no beating Ben.
