Apple’s sci-fi slate has a habit of resurfacing when viewers want something fast, punchy, and finished, and one of its most binge-friendly genre hits is doing exactly that right now. The series plays like a globetrotting conspiracy chase with kaiju-scale stakes, built around family secrets, a shadow organization, and set-piece momentum that keeps episodes clicking into “just one more.” It’s also the kind of show that benefits from word-of-mouth spikes: accessible mythology, clean season length, and a hook that pays off without demanding homework.
The data backs up the surge. On Apple TV charts this week, the show is climbing across a wide range of markets, tightening its average position from the mid-ranks toward the top tier and stacking points day over day into a stronger daily footprint. Critically, it’s not a niche curiosity either: it carries an 88% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes (the highest of any project in the blockbuster franchise it is a part of) and a 7.6/10 on IMDb, which helps explain why casual browsers are converting once it reappears in the carousel.
The title making the jump is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a 10-episode monster thriller that follows Cate (Anna Sawai) after she survives Godzilla’s San Francisco attack as she uncovers a family link to the mysterious Monarch organization. In the latest update, according to FlixPatrol, the film is sitting at an average position of #3 globally on AppleTV, a clear sign that it’s being watched rather than just sampled, and the timing of this success is no surprise.
‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Season 2 Is Just Around the Corner
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters popping back up on Apple TV+ charts isn’t merely accidental — it lines up with Apple ramping Season 2 marketing and locking the rollout and fans preparing beforehand. Apple has confirmed the 10-episode second season premieres February 27, 2026, then drops weekly every Friday through the May 1 finale, which is exactly the kind of schedule that triggers last-minute catch-up binges.
Story-wise, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is framed around the team being pulled back together by “buried secrets,” with much of the action shifting to Skull Island and a new threat (Titan X) placed at the center of the mystery. Timeline-wise, it’s set around 2017, before the 2021 Godzilla vs. Kong collision, which keeps it cleanly inside the MonsterVerse chronology while raising the stakes for what’s coming next. As for the film franchise, it's also still going strong, with a new movie titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova set to release in 2027.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is available to stream on Apple TV, and the second installment begins airing on February 27. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
