Shockwave Camera
The Shockwave Camera can be a solid way to get a start on tough enemies in 007 First Light. Not only does it stagger enemies, but it does solid damage against body armor, turning tanky foes into much more approachable fights. As the game progresses, body armor becomes increasingly common, turning the Shockwave Camera into an increasingly tempting option.
The Shockwave Camera features a Leica-branded camera body, featuring a similar appearance to classically-styled cameras like the Leica D-Lux 8. Its unusual shockwave apparatus is disguised as a macro lens.
That being said, there are other ways to get the jump on enemies that have greater utility in other situations or allow for stealthier approaches. If you know you're going into a massive firefight, the Shockwave Camera can be a good one to take along. Otherwise, you might have more fun with another option. Body armor also won't stop you from taking down enemies in one strike if you use stealth effectively, so the biggest benefit of the Shockwave Camera will typically only come into play in the big brawls.

Smoke Pod
The biggest advantage of the Smoke Pod is its ability to deal with situations full of NPCs or enemies. While plenty of gadgets can only affect one enemy at a time, or perhaps two or three standing together, the effect created by the Smoke Pod allows Bond to slip past more extensive groups.
That being said, the Smoke Pod lacks the versatility and creativity of some other options. In a game with so many unique ways to overcome obstacles, this is essentially the same as dropping a smoke bomb in any other game, making it a bit underwhelming compared to the best options.
Even so, it can be worth bringing the Smoke Pod along on a mission to get out of sticky situations in one of the simplest ways possible. Smoke bombs are classic video game assets for a reason, and 007 First Light's might even be more useful than most.

Flash Mine
Among Bond's array of Q gadgets in 007 First Light, the ability to stun opponents with the Flash Mine isn't especially unique. What makes this little AirPod case so useful, however, is the versatility of throwing the Flash Mine wherever you like. Often, you'll still want to toss them on an enemy directly for immediate impact, but being a little more strategic with the Flash Mine opens up a whole new world of opportunity.
This can be especially potent when combining the Flash Mine with other gadgets in 007 First Light. Need to take care of an enemy without knocking them out in the middle of a well-trodden path? Use another gadget to create a distraction nearby, then toss a Flash Mine near the distraction to stun them once they step out of line. That's only one example of how to use them, as the ability to lay Flash Mine traps can play out in countless ways.
Before you use Flash Mines in any critical scenarios, though, make sure you get used to throwing them. They typically go exactly where you want them to, but there's always a chance that an obstacle could get in the way and disrupt even the best-laid plan of attack. You might also be surprised by how big the triggering radius is, so if you're trying to strike a guard without others noticing, you'll want to make sure the mine is set pretty far away.
3
Missile Pen
Bond's Q gadgets often open up opportunities for violence in 007 First Light, but only the Missile Pen deals it out directly. True to its name, the Missile Pen fires discreet missiles that explode on impact, taking out any directly struck enemy and potentially others in their immediate vicinity.
Unlike firing a gun, firing the Missile Pen doesn't immediately blow Bond's cover, making it a surprisingly discreet way to remove enemies from the field. It's also fundamentally satisfying, offering the kind of kick that makes many of the best Bond gadgets in the films memorable. After using this, you'll have trouble giving any credence to Q's dismissive joke about Bond's exploding pens in Skyfall.
The only drawback to the Missile Pen is its comparative dearth of versatility. When attempting to deal with innocuous NPCs who are simply getting in the way, the Missile Pen lacks the utility of less violent options, so it might not be worth taking along on the more low-key missions.
2
Dart Phone
Bond can't go around slipping poison into drinks like Agent 47 in the Hitman games, but the Dart Phone is a reasonably close approximation that requires significantly less hassle. Shooting an enemy with one of these darts will immediately make them feel sick, causing them to abandon their current focus in favor of fighting waves of nausea.
On a basic level, the Dart Phone is enough to distract NPCs and enemies and create opportunities for stealth or takedowns. Even better, the Dart Phone can relocate NPCs more extensively than any other device. After becoming ill, they'll want to seek the nearest trash can or bathroom, and casing the joint to understand where the Dart Phone will bring them can give Bond another powerful advantage over the situation.
The Dart Phone can occasionally feel redundant if you have other ways to distract enemies, but some other great options use batteries for power. Since the dart phone relies on pickups like alcoholic drinks instead, it's a good one to keep around as an alternative for when Bond runs out of battery power.
1
Laser Strap
The effect of the Laser Strap isn't quite as flashy as some other Q gadgets in 007 First Light, but its widespread utility is hard to beat. Deployed on NPCs and enemies, the Laser Strap causes a moment of blindness, allowing Bond to slip past guards and attentive NPCs without causing any real disruption.
In some cases, the Laser Strap can be perfect for getting past a guarded doorway into a restricted area or picking up an item while watchers are nearby. It also distracts NPCs long enough to allow for pickpocketing, even when they're resistant to the effect. In more violent situations, blinding an enemy provides an opportunity for a takedown even in the midst of battle.
Used on electronic devices, the Laser Strap can also cause disruptions, often perfect for distracting NPCs or changing the environmental situation. Whether the mission is a quiet infiltration or a full-blown shootout, there's always a use for the Laser Strap. If you're going to take one gadget into every situation in 007 First Light, make it the Laser Strep to avoid having any regrets.
