Zendaya and Tom Holland gave a candid insight into their playful relationship during a new joint interview during the promo trail for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The actress, 29, poked fun at her husband, Tom, who recently confirmed they are married, while speaking to Spanish media outlet Antena 3 Noticias.

While discussing his hopes for the message of the fourth instalment of the franchise, Tom said he wants 'young kids to go out and make memories' after seeing it.

He told the outlet: 'The most important lesson he'll [Spider-Man] ever learn is the importance of friendship and community and asking for help and relying on loved ones to pick you up when you're at your lowest moment.

'For young people, who have the fear of missing out, they should dive in and see their friends and get out of the house and make memories and have wonderful experiences and I hope this movie can inspire young kids to do that.'

However, his heartfelt sentiment didn't last long, as his wife soon mocked him for sounding like an 'old man' at 30 by referring to fans as 'young people'.

Laughing, Zendaya said: 'When you say young kids it's like...'

Catching on to what she was saying, Tom replied: 'I know, like I'm some old...'

Zendaya then doubled down and joked: 'Grandpa over here! Turns 30 and now he's like, these young kids... get out there, there's no time left!'

Bashful Tom then said: 'I know, so stupid! Sorry!'

Elsewhere on the press tour for the upcoming film, the couple were faced with a question about the so-called 'Zendaya Hat Theory' that is still going viral online.

The silly theory comically claims that she wears big hats to secretly transport her now-husband, and that they also conceal her many hidden powers.

The meme started in 2014, when she wore an oversized Emporio Armani hat to the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party, and it gained new traction after she wore a dramatic, wide-brimmed white floppy chapeau to the 2025 Met Gala.

'We’re gonna be seeing lots of great outfits on this press tour. I have to ask, will there be any hats?' an interviewer with LINDA asked the newlyweds in an obvious reference to the silly theory.

'Hats? Oh my God. This won’t go away,' Zendaya replied.

'What is it again? What’s it called? Zendaya hat theory,' Holland volunteered.

'It’s peak brain rot. The kids are not OK,' she said.

'It is quite funny though,' Holland had to admit.

Zendaya agreed, adding: 'It's so funny, it's so weird. But yeah, maybe we need to whip out some hats. But obviously I've let you out of my hat, 'cause you’re here.'

'I know. I like being out here. Don't put me back in the hat,' Holland told her good-naturedly.

'It's nice out here, isn't it?' she said in tongue-in-cheek fashion.

In April, the statuesque star was also compelled to address the viral Zendaya Hat Theory.

'It was a very chronically online thing,' Zendaya told Vogue in a joint interview with her The Drama costar Robert Pattinson. 'I was confused by the Hat Theory thing.'

The British actor said their relatives 'were all there' at the ultra-private wedding; the couple were pictured on June 17 in Amsterdam

Zendaya offered her own 'theory' for how the Hat Theory came about: 'I wore a hat once.'

'I can’t explain it because it doesn’t make sense. It's like classic brain rot. I don't understand it. It makes me feel very out of touch,' she told the outlet.

Robert appeared to be amused when Zendaya spoke about claims that 'Tom lives in the hat' and she 'has a dark version of myself that's taken over once I wore the hat.'

Zendaya summed up the strangeness this way: 'I don’t know, girl, the internet is a weird place.'

Meanwhile, Tom recently confirmed that he and his Spider-Man costar are indeed husband and wife.

It came after months of intense speculation following AI pictures purportedly of the happy couple on their wedding day hitting the internet.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, he explained that his grandmother had seen the fake pictures online, and thought she'd missed the day itself.

When asked if he'd had to reassure relatives that they hadn't missed anything, the British actor replied: 'No, because they were all there.'

'That's all you'll get on that,' he added.

Zendaya praised her husband for coping so well with the pressures of being Spider-Man.

'My favorite thing about Tom's Spider-Man is how Tom handles Spider-Man outside of Spider-Man,' she told Fandango's Big Ticket

'So many people connect to this character — to Peter Parker, to Spider-Man. Especially young people, especially children.'
