James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

With The Legend of Zelda celebrating its 40th anniversary as a franchise this year, fans are expecting some big announcements from Nintendo to mark the occasion, whether that be news on the movie adaptation, or confirmation that development is underway on the next game in the mainline single-player series.

Arguably at the top of everyone's wishlist, however, is a remake of the beloved N64 release Ocarina of Time, with rumors growing all the time that it actually is something that the community is going to get quite soon. Now, an announcement from Nintendo, that at first seems entirely unrelated, could actually serve as major evidence that the remake is real.

Nintendo May Have Inadvertently Confirmed The Ocarina Of Time Remake

As first reported by Game Rant, the original report that Ocarina of Time was going to get a remake came from renowned leaker Nate the Hate, who has previously been very accurate about upcoming releases. As part of that same post, Nate also claimed that Rhythm Heaven Groove would be releasing in the Summer of this year.

The exciting revelation is that Nintendo has just officially confirmed that the latter will indeed be launching on July 2, inadvertently adding a ton of credence to the Ocarina of Time portion of the leak in the process. Whilst it obviously doesn't serve as explicit confirmation, you would be well within your rights to get excited at this point.

That said, we might have to wait a little while longer for the validation we're all looking for, with most expecting that it will be announced during the next Nintendo Direct, which should happen at some point in June.

This Would Be The Ultimate Zelda Remake

Ocarina of Time remains arguably the most iconic game in the entire 40-year history of the series, and to see it return on a console as capable as the Switch 2 would be a genuinely brilliant moment, particularly for those of us who came up on the original.

Though modders have done a fantastic job making the game look better on emulators over the years, an official Nintendo reboot has the potential to be brilliant, with the 3DS port serving as a good guide for what they are capable of. In the meantime, we're just going to have to sit tight and wait to hear more Zelda news, as and when Nintendo feels ready to deliver it to us.
