The Legend of Zelda is one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable franchises in all of video game history, and among all of that brilliance, Ocarina of Time still stands at the top of the tree for many. Releasing all the way back in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, it struck that perfect balance between fun gameplay, engrossing storytelling, and what were pretty good graphics for the time.

The overall aesthetic of the N64 generation has aged pretty poorly though, with many of the games now defined by just how polygonal they are to look at. With the 40th anniversary of Zelda being celebrated this year, many fans are expecting big announcements to mark the occasion, and top of their list of demands remains a remake of Ocarina of Time.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post featuring a video from game journalist Jeff Grubb, in which he contended that the next Nintendo Direct will likely come on Tuesday, June 9. The responses to that were filled with players who are desperate for confirmation of an Ocarina of Time remake, and if they do announce it, expectations are going to be very high indeed.

"The expectations for what this thing will look like are astronomical. Really hope it delivers," one comment read in reference to the potential release.

While another added, "I want it to look like the most expensive thing Nintendo has ever done. 99% of the time I want Nintendo to stick to their sustainable and healthy scope, but Ocarina is special. Just this one time, I want them to show something that looks so AAA just to stunt on the industry."

"Not going to lie, I also want Nintendo to just go wild with the remake. Keep the general structure, but they can change pretty much everything else, in my opinion. Make it bigger and more cinematic, for example. OoT is by far my favorite game of all time, and it's a very special game too, but I need to see what they would do with the game with all the new fancy tech and what not. The OG can't be replaced and is easily accessible so it's time in my opinion," a third said.

Whatever does happen at the potential Nintendo Direct next week, the rumors of an Ocarina of Time remake are very strong, and we can likely expect it to be announced at some point this year, even if we have to wait a little for that gratification.
