If you're of a certain age, you may have many fond memories of hunkering down in front of your N64 and playing one of the greatest adventure games of all time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is almost upon us and Nintendo are teasing fans with cheeky cryptic messages. Let's get into it!
We've had precious little information about the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and with it still set to launch in 2026, time is running out for the marketing team. It would seem, though, that the once radio-silent Nintendo, are now beginning to tease players with cryptic messages over on X. Having received little more than a few screenshots with voice over up until now, it's beginning to feel like we are on the precipice of a huge reveal. Fingers crossed!
The cryptic message from Nintendeal on X was as follows:

With zero context, it would seem it's up to the fans to interpret this brain-teaser. Without fail though, the community have been quick to share thoughts and possible answers to the cryptic message. Some have pointed out that 'oto' could possibly mean 'one to one', which would suggest that the remake will be a faithful recreation of the N64 classic without changing content or gameplay mechanics. Others suggest that the word 'eve' is in the cryptic message, meaning we're only one day away from learning the truth.
One commentor believes they've cracked it with the following solution:
levelveryzelda = level design is very zelda-like
:-: = not, negation
oto = one to one
The level design will feel like classic 3d Zelda, but it won’t be one to one.
While another seems to have just completely given up!:

With many fans expecting the next Nintendo Direct to be any day soon, we hopefully don't have long to wait for a solution to this puzzle. At this late stage, fans would rather see actual gameplay footage or a confirmed release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Could the cryptic conundrum be a hint at the games release date perhaps? The word eleven could be pulled from the sentence and 'oto' could refer to October. Is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake releasing on October, 11, 2026?
Of course, the cryptic message might not have anything to do with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2. It could be referring to anything from new Zelda Amiibo characters, to the upcoming Zelda movie that we currently know very little about. It could even be a hint at new DLC for Tears of the Kingdom, for all we know. Whatever transpires next, hopefully we get the answers we deserve very soon.
