If you throw a digital stone, you might hit a cozy game on Steam. But given that so many of them are high quality, it's easy to get enamored with one and not come up for air until 100 hours later.

That's the sort of expectation that Stardew Valley set when it arrived years ago, inspiring a new cozy game movement, and many of them deliver. While some are chasing trends, others completely do their own thing and lean into the genre.

Now, you can play something for free on Steam that manages to marry elements of The Legend of Zelda and The Owl House, and it's doing it in a very endearing way.

Live on Steam, you can try a demo for Songs Of Glimmerwick, crafted and published by Eastshade Studios. As a mix of Zelda and The Owl House, you'll wander through this magical fantasy world, engage in quests, tend to a garden, and learn songs/spells to manipulate the environment,

Here's what you're getting into: "Become immersed in a musical woodland fantasy world where casting a spell is as easy as playing a song. Attend classes, grow the university garden, make friends with classmates and townsfolk, and explore the island’s many oddities and mysteries in this story-driven witch academy RPG."

There's a lot to this game, as it's fully voiced for "every character, major and minor." You'll also find an RPG-like character progression system to put experience points into (for gardening, trading, or even abilities like talking to animals), and the ability to customize your experience.

Like any cozy game worth its salt, there are also tons of ancillary activities to do, like fishing, diving, and even joining a band. The ability to go on forest expeditions with sprites sounds fantastic as well.

You Can Try Songs Of Glimmerwick Free Right Now

Right now, you can try Songs of Glimmerwick for free as a demo, but it's slated to arrive sometime in 2026. As usual, wishlisting it will ensure that you'll get updates when it actually arrives.

The latest update from the studio was back in June, and it seems like everything is going great so far: "At the time of this writing, we've broken 150 thousand wishlists. We've been hearing extremely encouraging things on our public feedback form, with the median score being a 9! The most common complaint is that folks were really sad the demo ended and they think it should be longer. But it's already over two hours which according to most Steam experts is way too long for a demo! I guess the time flies by in Glimmerwick."

The cozy genre is thriving, and so many games look absolutely wonderful, aesthetically. It's no wonder that Steam has so many of them on display front and center at any given time.
