Zarna Garg has set a new stand-up special at Hulu.
Produced by Rotten Science, the comedy hour will launch as part of Hulu’s new stand-up initiative, Hularious. A release date or title has not yet been announced.
“I’m beyond excited to join the Hulu family and bring families together for my comedy special! Just make sure they get back to their math homework afterward,” Garg said in a statement.
Garg is an Indian-born comedian and screenwriter who escaped an arranged marriage and later moved to the United States. She was a stay-at-home mother for 16 years before her children encouraged her to try stand-up comedy. After performing at open mics in New York City, she began winning competitions for stand-up comedy and screenwriting, and was recognized by Kevin Hart and Hillary Clinton.
Garg’s first comedy special, “One in a Billion,” was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2023. She made her acting debut in the SXSW film “A Nice Indian Boy,” and she hosts the “Zarna Garg Family Podcast,” where she explored modern family life with her husband and kids. She also has a sitcom, “Zarna,” in development at CBS and produced by Hart and Mindy Kaling.
Hularious, which kicks off Nov. 22, will also include stand-up specials from Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Atsuko Okatsuka, Andrew Santino and Roy Wood Jr. As part of the initiative, Hulu is also licensing previously released comedy specials from 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics and Don’t Tell Comedy.
