The Snyderverse might not be dead after all, as Justice League sequels may yet see the light of day.

After years of a fan campaign online, Snyder came back to DC to let his creative vision for what is perhaps the most popular superhero team in the comics shine. Zack Snyder's Justice League changed a lot of what happened in the theatrical release, with Darkseid having a real role. Despite its success, no Snyder projects are on DC's slate of movies, but that could change.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Zack Snyder addressed the chances of returning to the Snyderverse for Justice League 2 and 3. Interviewer Josh Horowitz asked the director about the possibility of the Justice League movies finally happening in the form of a comic book series or an animated film. Snyder had a positive response to the idea. Check it out below:

"We've absolutely talked about it quite a bit. We live in a world where all that's possible, and whatever form it would take... that would be amazing."

Justice League, which was largely reshot by The Avengers director Joss Whedon, opened in theaters on November 17, 2017. The movie went on to end its theatrical run with $661.3 million. With a reported budget of $300 million after the reshoots, the DC movie needed to end in the $600 million to $750 million range to break even. As such, it was not a major success.

Years later, Zack Snyder's Justice League was finally released on HBO Max on March 18, 2021. On Rotten Tomatoes, it stands at a positive 71% critics' score and a near-perfect 92% audience score, cementing how the wait for the DC movie was more than worth it. After its success, fans started to campaign for Snyder's planned Justice League sequels to be made.

Since then, Snyder has commented on the possibility of finishing his Justice League plans multiple times. On December 5, 2025, Snyder celebrated the 500k followers milestone on Instagram by commenting on his love for the characters and saying, "Here's to many more stories together!" Before that, on April 12, 2024, Snyder talked to Empire Magazine about moving the Snyderverse to animation.

The director said, "Yeah, absolutely. That'd be fun. That'd be cool." Nearly two years later, Snyder continues to believe that doing his Justice League sequels in animated form would be a good idea, now revealing there have been talks about that possibility. At the moment, the DCU's Chapter One has no Justice League movie announced. As such, the Snyderverse would face no competition, especially if it came back in animated form.
