Met Gala 2026 Dress Code Revealed
Beyoncé is finally pulling out another freakum dress.
Indeed, the 35-time Grammy winner has been tapped as a co-chair for the 2026 Met Gala, meaning she'll return to the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the first time in 10 years.
Her 2008 debut—which saw Beyoncé grace the red carpet in a strapless soft pink Armani gown, complete with ruffle detailing—served as a fitting ensemble for that year's "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" theme.
But all eyes were on her not just for the fashion of it all, as that appearance came just one month after she privately tied the knot with Jay-Z (with whom she now shares kids Blue Ivy Carter, 14, as well as twins 8-year-old twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter).
And that evening proved to be one of the best she and stylist Ty Hunter ever had.
“It was an amazing Armani," he told Vibe in 2024. "It was our first time, and it was my very first Met Gala, so I was really like a date that day…and it was just such a great experience, and it opened up the door to, like, ‘I want more Met Galas!'”
So said, so done. Three years later, Bey stunned in a black Emilio Pucci gown complete with a fishtail hem for that year's theme of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, an appearance of which five more would follow.
But her last Met Gala look in 2016, a peach-colored Givenchy latex puff-sleeve gown, would probably be one of her most talked about, considering the event came just weeks after she dropped her album Lemonade.
"A lot of people were saying it was Becky’s skin," Ty recalled to Vibe of fans' reactions, "and there were so many rumors going on around this dress, and it was just so different.”

The Texas native shut down the Met Gala red carpet when she honored the theme of “China: Through the Looking Glass” by wearing a sheer, embellished full-length gown, completing her look by sweeping her hair up into a high ponytail.
Her stylist Ty Hunter told Vibe that due to the "thick, Swarovski crystals on this mesh" of the head-turning dress, staying by her side that night "was a lot of work."

Fresh off the heels of Lemonade, Beyoncé caught the eyes of fans all night when she wore a Givenchy latex puff-sleeve gown for the theme of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology."
