PS4 and Xbox One servers are shutting down, but PC is safe for now

Battlefield Hardline, the 2015 police-focused spin-off from the main Battlefield franchise, was an ambitious, bold installment, albeit somewhat flawed. And unfortunately, while the single-player component of Battlefield Hardline will remain playable, the servers are being shut down for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game in just one week, on Monday, June 22.

The game was removed from digital storefronts last month, on Friday, May 22, so if you don't already own it on PS4 or Xbox One, you can't buy it now (unless you can find a physical copy). As a workaround, however, you can subscribe to EA Play and gain access to it on those platforms. If you do have the game in your library, now's your time to jump in before the multiplayer servers are gone forever. Unfortunately, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were shut down back in 2024.

If you're on Windows PC, the game is still available to purchase via both Steam and EA, and there's no sign of the multiplayer servers being shut down yet. However, according to SteamDB, it currently averages no more than 50 players per day, so finding a multiplayer lobby may be tough.

Our original review describes how experimental Hardline was, and the campaign especially was considered "more interesting and certainly all-around better than the last few years' worth of Battlefield games." Thankfully, the campaign can still be accessed even after the servers are shut down, as the game is fully playable offline.

If you want to play the latest game in the series, next season is a great time to jump in as Battlefield 6 is introducing naval warfare and the biggest map to date.
