Kroger may be handy for grocery runs, but what about streaming Agatha All Along or Only Murders in the Building?
The food giant on Tuesday announced Hulu, Disney Plus and ESPN Plus are now up for grabs with a Boost by Kroger Plus annual membership. There's a caveat: It's for a single ad-based plan -- no bundling. To take advantage of the perk, members can choose a subscription to only one streaming service in the Disney family: Hulu with ads, Disney Plus Basic (with ads) or ad-based ESPN Plus. A $99 yearly Boost membership includes a streaming subscription for the entirety of your enrollment in the Kroger program. A $59 annual plan offers the same but for only six months of streaming.
The streaming benefit is for new or returning US subscribers 18 or older. Outside of the perk, Boost memberships provide free grocery delivery on orders $35 and up (same day or next day depending on your plan), more fuel points and other offers and free items. You can choose to pay for Boost on a monthly basis, but you won't be able to access a streaming service.
The news comes as Disney prepares to increase the price of Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus. Come Oct. 17 -- subscribers will pay more on that date or from the first billing cycle or after that date -- the ad-supported version of Disney Plus will cost $10 per month, up from $8. Hulu will also rise to $10 monthly or $100 annually. ESPN Plus will go from $11 monthly to $12, and $110 annually to $120. If you paid for a year of Disney Plus or ESPN Plus at this price, it would cost $21 more than if you got the $99 annual Boost plan.
If you already have a streaming service and want to get it through an annual Boost membership instead, you'll need to cancel and wait until your billing cycle ends. You can find more information, including how to redeem your benefit, on Kroger's site. If you're interested in other food-related subscriptions that throw in streaming services, here's how to get Max with DashPass and Peacock with Instacart.
