Dennis has written for publications like USA Today, Prediction News, and Psychology Today before bringing his thoughts to Collider. Despite consuming an arguably concerning amount of Netflix content, he maintains enough critical faculties to form opinions worth reading. His claim to fame is not falling asleep through virtually every film he's encountered in recent years—with one notable exception: falling asleep during "Barbie" only to be awakened by Ryan Gosling belting "I'm Just Ken." When not analyzing entertainment or defending his streaming habits as "research," Dennis can be found wondering if perhaps he should go outside more often.

Comedians have pushed the boundaries on stage, movies, and television for decades. In recent years, several series have featured comedians playing over-the-top fictionalized versions of themselves — the most popular example being Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. And now, there's Bert Kreischer in Free Bert. The Netflix streaming series has gained traction for its provocative humor and unfiltered nature that has people unable to look away.

What Is Bert Kreischer's Netflix Series 'Free Bert' About?

Free Bert is a six-episode comedy series that dropped on Netflix at the end of January 2026. In addition to Kreischer, the series also stars Arden Myrin as his wife, and Ava Ryan and Lilou Lang as his two daughters. Just like the real Kreischer, Bert is a comedian best known for performing shirtless and has a reputation for being a party animal. But after a party for Rob Lowe, where all they wanted Bert to do was take his shirt off, Bert begins to question whether he’s funny at all.

Bert has just moved his daughters to a new and expensive private school, which means the school is filled with wealthy parents and their spoiled kids. Free Bert doesn't waste time getting absurd and crossing far too many lines. He has a livestream with T-Pain and claims his daughter (who is in 8th grade) has never given a hand job. At school, Georgia is bullied for never giving in and becomes a social pariah. To make things worse, Bert decides to meet with the parents of one of the bullies and the principal, only to learn quickly that these parents are a whole new kind of beast. Bert makes the ultimate sacrifice: he decides to "put on a shirt" to be taken seriously.

The true goal is to stifle his true nature so he can fit in with the snobby crowd. But will this change things? If Bert fakes it, puts on a button-down shirt, and makes new friends, does that actually change anything for him? Will those real changes matter? The six-episode series explores these ideas, asking whether he can maintain this new image and whether it is even worth it. And of course, all of these explorations and concepts are ripe for humor, which Kreischer doesn’t back down from. It is as painfully cringe and ridiculous as it sounds.

'Free Bert' Is a Wild One-Night Binge for Comedy Fans

Bert Kreischer is a comedian that is definitely not for everyone. Like other comedians, he finds topics in the zeitgeist and approaches them with a humorous lens. But at times, his jokes are a bit shocking. Beyond talking about his middle school daughter giving blow jobs, he also has an entire storyline about his "pedophilia superpowers" and how he will use them to seduce a boy into liking Georgia. This kind of humor is unsurprisingly not appreciated by everyone.

Despite the boundary-pushing jokes, it's easy to fall in love with the chemistry between the core characters. Inspired by his real family, the chemistry Bert has with his wife and his two daughters feels authentic. And the standout is definitely Lang, who plays the overly supportive, potty-mouthed child with hilarious comments throughout the series that make every moment — no matter how serious — lighter. In many ways, Lang plays a mini version of Bert. The relationship between Bert and LeAnne is also strong, as the two seemed to genuinely care for one another. Instead of overdoing the role of LeAnne, Myrin portrays her as a three-dimensional wife who remains grounded despite having someone as “out there” as Bert as her life partner.
