In the new clip Kayce Dutton's wife Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille, was not seen.

And it's pretty clear Monica has passed away as a sheet was seen being place over a body that laid in his bed. Later, Kayce is seen laying in that same bed with the spot next to him empty.

In a voiceover, Kayce is heard saying that the only thing that meant anything to him was taken away.

Some fans were furious at the move: 'They did Monica dirty! How can they kill her off like that?' said on fan on Reddit while another chimed in, 'No love for poor Monica, sad.'

Also in the clip, some of his Marshal coworkers seem to fancy Kayce which hints at a new romance.

The spinoff - which will debut on March 1, 2026 - is centered around an elite team of US Marshals in Montana.

This tough group takes on gang members, the cartels and even Grizzly bears.

Gil Birmingham is returning as Broken Rock Reservation chief Thomas Rainwater.

He could seen in an earlier trailer telling Kayce that all of the Duttons are born killers but that Kayce is different because he is a 'protector.'

And in an earlier teaser Brecken Merrill, who portrays Kayce's son Tate Dutton, is shown in a car as he looks much older than when he was on the flagship series.

The show has also promised to bring back Mo Brings Plenty as Mo, according to Deadline.

American Horror Story star Ash Santos, Killers of the Flower Moon actor Tatanka Means and The Vampire Diaries alumna Arielle Kebbel have also been cast.

They are joining the program as series regulars, playing Kayce's fellow U.S. Marshals respectively called Andrea, Miles and Belle.

Throughout the clip several cast members from the original Yellowstone show are seen

Meanwhile Brett Cullen, who played Batman's father Thomas Wayne in Joker, will recur as the Montana head of the U.S. Marshals Harry Gifford.

Y: Marshals will also feature Logan Marshall-Green, whose casting as Kayce's old military buddy Pete Calvin was announced last year.

The show's logline says Kayce will attempt to 'bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.'

Luke starred throughout the hugely successful five-season run of Yellowstone as Kayce Dutton, one of the family of ranchers at the center of the story.

Costner left the show after filming only the first half of season five, prompting his character John to be killed off in a murder-for-hire plot.

His departure came under a cloud of rumors that he feuded with Taylor Sheridan, though he evidently ultimately left the show over scheduling conflicts with his own four-part Western movie Horizon, which he directed, starred in and co-wrote.

Horizon, a decades-long passion project that Kevin poured over $38 million of his own money into, debuted its first part last year to dismal box office results.

Meanwhile Yellowstone aired the last half of season five in 2024, dividing fans - and shortly thereafter, Luke gave a telling interview about Kevin's exit.

'Hopefully everyone can see that it was time,' Grimes said of John Dutton being killed off, in an interview with Men's Health. 'To be really honest, there was a part of Kevin being gone that meant some of the conflict was gone.'

Gil Birmingham is also coming back as Broken Rock Reservation chief Thomas Rainwater (left) and Mo Brings Plenty as his aide-de-camp Mo (right), according to Deadline

Grimes became a household name on the smash hit series playing Kayce Dutton, the son of Kevin Costner's rancher patriarch John Dutton; both pictured on the show

He shared: 'Obviously, it didn’t make it super fun to be around... Not pointing any fingers, but it was actually the easiest season we’ve filmed.'

Luke revealed he had not spoken to Kevin since the Oscar-winner left the show, explaining with a laugh: 'It's not a case of any hard feelings or anything; its just, he's Kevin Costner. He's a big deal.'

He clarified: 'I do have his phone number - I just don't feel like it's my place to reach out. He can reach out to me if he wants.'

In footage exclusively obtained by the Daily Mail, Kevin shut down a question about feud rumors with Luke, but confirmed they had not spoken since the finale aired.
