Nintendo revealed a brand-new Xenoblade game during Tuesday's Nintendo Direct. The trailer for Xenoblade Genesis showed off some of the game's early moments, though it was light on gameplay. A special power known as Anima permeates through the world of Xenoblade Genesis, and warriors called Vesselai can wield it. Based on the trailer, you'll seemingly play as a warrior-in-training as Xenoblade Genesis looks like it's set in some sort of magic school.

During the Direct, Nintendo senior executive officer Yoshiaki Koizumi said Xenoblade Genesis "marks a new beginning" and asked viewers what stories they expect to be told. He also said to "please look forward to future updates," but didn't say when those updates might come.

For now, all we know is that Xenoblade Genesis is in development for Nintendo Switch 2. It's expected to be released sometime in 2027.

During the Direct, Nintendo also announced Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are all on the way. All three games are getting visual boosts and new content, and Nintendo promises further details sometime in the future. The digital edition and upgrade pack for the first game is available starting Tuesday. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will receive its upgrade July 30, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on Dec. 3.
