An upcoming game had its release canceled on Xbox Series X/S consoles just four days before its official arrival, surprising players on the Microsoft gaming platform. 2026 is off to a strong start with several notable game releases. This includes titles like the 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Code Vein 2, and more. Aside from the January 2026 game releases, there are also some notable games coming in February, like Resident Evil Requiem.

Among these new releases, there is a multiplatform game that had its Xbox release canceled out of nowhere. According to a report by Gematsu, Nickelodeon Splat Pack is set to be released on January 30 for multiple platforms, but its release on Xbox Series X/S consoles has been canceled. The outlet reports that a representative for Limited Run Games, the publisher, informed it of the cancellation.

This Xbox Game Was Scrapped Days Before Launch

Nickelodeon Splat Pack’s Xbox Version Was Quietly Canceled

Three games are highlighted as part of the Nickelodeon Splat Pack.

The title developed by Mighty Rabbit Studios and published by Limited Run Games is a collection of classic Nickelodeon games. In total, Nickelodeon Splat Pack contains three games: GUTS, Rocko’s Modern Life: Spunky’s Dangerous Day, and both versions of AAAHH!!! Real Monsters. The bundle hadn’t set on a release date, but on January 26, Limited Run Games made the announcement on X.

The post highlights that the game will be released on January 30, but makes no mention whatsoever of the Xbox version. Later, it was confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S version of Nickelodeon Splat Pack was scrapped, but only a few days away from the game’s official release. It’s unclear what reason led to the cancellation of the Xbox game, as neither the developer nor the publisher provided more information.

It'll Still Release On Other Platforms

Nickelodeon Splat Pack Arrives On PlayStation, Switch, & PC

For players who are looking forward to revisiting the classic Nickelodeon games, there is still hope. Even though Nickelodeon Splat Pack was canceled for Xbox Series X/S, the bundle with three games is still being released on other platforms. On January 30, you’ll be able to play Nickelodeon Splat Pack on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam).

These are all remasters of the aforementioned games for modern consoles. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters was originally released for Sega Genesis and Super NES, while GUTS and Rocko’s Modern Life: Spunky’s Dangerous Day were first featured on SNES. In addition to the nostalgia they provide, the games also come with brand-new features, like a rewind tool and the ability to save anywhere, rather than relying on specific save points.

Nickelodeon Splat Pack will bring back the 90s nostalgia. However, it’s a pity that Xbox Series X/S gamers will be left out of the possibility of playing it, especially with the lack of more information about why this specific version was canceled just a few days before release.
