Xbox servers are no stranger to hiccups, and some of the biggest in a while are happening today. As Xbox Live is connected to many other Microsoft services, it tends to go down at the same time as servers for other Microsoft products like Outlook, Teams, and 365.

Interrupting the humdrum of daily business activities is one thing, of course, and interrupting a serious gaming session is another. This time, the concern has been amplified by the timing. Unfortunately for fans, a couple of major releases heavily associated with the Xbox brand are facing potential interference from server problems today.

On X, the official XBOX Support account has confirmed that "some users are encountering errors when attempting to connect to Xbox services and features." Right now, a solution has not been deployed, but the support account promises that "engineers are actively working to mitigate the issue."

Fans waiting for updates on the situation should turn to the official Xbox support page, which is promising to provide information as it becomes available. Right now, the page notes that the following services are experiencing major outages:

  • Store & subscriptions
  • Friends & social activity
  • Cloud gaming & remote play
  • Games & gaming
  • Apps & mobile

Other aspects, like multiplayer gaming and sharing game clips, appear to remain online. A live look at reports can also be found on DownDetector, which indicates that the rate of reports is currently falling from its earlier heights.

One possible side effect of the server outages is an interruption of access to Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is officially available in early access today for those who purchased the Premium Edition. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 also launched both an immediately unlockable camo and a challenge for another camo today, which are both supposed to be available to anyone who pre-orders Modern Warfare 4.

In both cases, the server problems seem to be affecting rewards dependent on monetary investment, leaving fans who chose to sink money into either of these avenues frustrated. Plenty of replies to the support post on X mention these issues, but Xbox has not yet responded directly to the complaints.

Hopefully, Microsoft will resolve the ongoing server issues sooner rather than later. Either way, Xbox will still have to contend with some disgruntled fans, but deploying a solution quickly would go a long way in minimizing the damage.
