Following the news that a new expansion is on the way after two whole decades without any content, one of the greatest RPGs of the early 2000s has been added to the Xbox Game Pass library without any prior warning, making it free to play for eligible subscribers.
Available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium subscribers, Diablo 2: Resurrected is back on both PC and Xbox Series X/S courtesy of Microsoft's subscription service and better yet, it arrives just in time to celebrate its upcoming expansion.
Xbox Game Pass Just Got A Huge Surprise
With no warning, Diablo 2: Resurrected was added to the Xbox Game Pass library overnight and as the 2021 remaster of 2000's Diablo II as well as its Lord of Destruction expansion, this is the perfect opportunity for those who missed out on the Blizzard RPG to make up for lost time.
Since it was first released back in 2000 as a direct sequel to 1997's Diablo, Diablo II is often considered the best in the Blizzard franchise, which makes it all the more exciting that it has both been added to Xbox Game Pass's library and will be welcoming brand-new content after over two decades without any.
In recent years, Diablo 4 has been met with divisive reviews thanks to confusing prices on upcoming content, stingy loot, and Blizzard's approach to battle passes and microtransactions, but it is safe to say that you will not have to deal with any of this for Diablo 2: Resurrected, especially as it is free for the majority of Game Pass subscribers.
Diablo 2: Resurrected Is Available Now
Now will be the perfect time to get stuck into Diablo 2: Resurrected. Whether you are a veteran of the series looking for a bit of nostalgia or you want to try out the hit RPG for the first time, the 2021 remaster is here to stay. Not only that, but with Blizzard releasing Update 1.34/1.034 to Diablo 2: Resurrected, players can expect heaps of new content, including a brand-new Warlock class.
With powers forged in the pits of hell, the Warlock's abilities center around summoning demons, and using binding and transformation skills to dominate the battlefield. Titled Reign of the Warlock, this new update also introduces new end-game content such as a punishing boss battle, as well as major quality-of-life changes including loot filters, advanced stash tabs, and most importantly, new rewards.
