Xbox Game Pass Free Game Is The Stranger Things RPG We Always Wanted

1 hour ago 9

A new free game being added to the Xbox Game Pass is going to be the Stranger Things RPG we’ve always wanted, even if it is set outside Netflix’s hit franchise. This is a busy month for Microsoft’s subscription service, with several new arrivals and a few departures. There’s going to be an outstanding day-one release on Xbox Game Pass on May 28, following the remarkable launch for Forza Horizon 6 on the platform.

Some attention is already shifting further down the road, as the service will also soon receive a game that you can’t miss. One of the first games on Xbox Game Pass in June is Final Fantasy 6, considered by many to be the very best entry in the series – or, at the very least, the best title in the franchise’s pixel-era. However, before we reach June or the aforementioned day-one release, there’s another addition you should keep on your radar.

Echo Generation 2 Has Strong Stranger Things Vibes

Echo Generation 2 is arriving in the catalog on May 27, as part of the Wave 2 May Xbox Game Pass additions. The title is a day-one release on the service, which means its availability will be limited to members of the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers. The new RPG will be playable on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and via Cloud Gaming. Echo Generation 2 is described as a sci-fi deckbuilding RPG adventure.

The game has serious Stranger Things vibes because it is heavily inspired by 1980s science fiction, mixing it with supernatural monsters and a touch of horror – just enough to increase the stakes. Your goal will be to establish a crew of young heroes, build decks, and fight your way through cosmic threats as you get closer to the truth behind the universe. This is going to be one of the most creative RPGs available on Xbox Game Pass, so be sure to check it out if you can.

The First Echo Generation Is Highly Underrated

If the first game serves as a basis for the potential of the sequel, then the new day-one release should be exceptional. In Screen Rant’s review of Echo Generation, the first entry in the series, we give it an 8/10 score, calling it a “thrilling and engaging ride.” We highlight the game’s story, characters, and mechanics. On Steam, the first game has a 92% approval rate from players.

Of course, there’s a big difference in gameplay from the first title to Echo Generation 2, but changes like these are ripe with potential, and if studio Cococucumber is trying to experiment with new things, it may be worth checking it out. Be sure to mark your calendar for this day-one RPG on Xbox Game Pass.
