Xbox and Discord announced a new partnership on Monday. The two companies are teaming up to offer a pared-down version of Xbox Game Pass to Discord Nitro subscribers.

Discord Nitro is a premium version of Discord for $10 a month or $100 for a yearlong subscription. It lets users have custom per-server profiles, larger file uploads, custom emojis, and more. Beginning Monday, it now includes a "starter edition" of Xbox Game Pass that will have more than 50 Xbox and PC games to download and play. It will also offer 10 hours of cloud gaming streaming every month. Available games will include DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Fallout 4, Grounded, Overcooked 2, and Stardew Valley.

Discord Nitro's price isn't changing with the new Game Pass benefit: "Your Nitro membership is still the same price, and Game Pass is now part of it," reads the Discord blog announcing the partnership.

Discord is a messaging platform often favored by gamers. It's been integrated into PlayStation and Xbox ecosystems in recent years, and now Roll20 can be launched directly through the platform for your virtual tabletop gaming sessions.

Discord announced a controversial age-verification plan in February, and that announcement did not go over well with its user base, who quickly started searching for alternative chat services. Discord then said it would delay the controversial changes to later in 2026, but it hasn't announced a specific date yet.

Xbox and Game Pass have also had a notable 2026 full of change and user reaction. Game Pass got cheaper, but won't add future Call of Duty titles on their launch days. The price decrease showed that Game Pass subscribers have limits, something new CEO Asha Sharma acknowledged when announcing the changes, writing on X, "Game Pass Ultimate has become too expensive for too many players."
