X-Men vs Fantastic Four Doesn't Have the Easy Answer You Think, Marvel Confirms

As two of Marvel’s oldest superhero teams, the X-Men and Fantastic Four have teamed up on numerous occasions, but there are other connections tying them together. Reed Richards and Charles Xavier founded the Illuminati together with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Namor, and Black Bolt. Until the Krakoa era, Reed and Sue Storm’s son, Franklin, was considered a mutant. Johnny Storm and Rogue are close friends. The list goes on, but the point being that the times these two teams have been in conflict with one another are few and far between.

Nevertheless, in a hypothetical battle between the X-Men and Fantastic Four, it might seem like the former would easily defeat the latter given their larger roster of heavy hitters. However, a new Marvel comic has shown that such a conflict might not be so clearcut, as one of the Fantastic Four members showed a massive display of power that drastically improves the odds.

Invisible Woman Literally Crushes Emma Frost

Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #2 sees Emma Frost clashing with Sue, a.k.a. Invisible Woman, who’s part of Knull’s Kill Crew, i.e. the mind-controlled group of Marvel heroes and villains who have been mind-controlled into serving the former King in Black. Emma’s mutant abilities include telepathy and transforming into a diamond form, while Sue, in addition to her normal invisibility and force field powers, also has normal symbiote abilities while under Knull’s control. However, she doesn’t need said abilities to quickly dispatch Emma.

Within moments, Knull uses Sue, whom he describes as “the most powerful of my meat puppets,” to generate a force field around the diamond-covered Emma, then crush her, shocking Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Doctor Doom, and more. Unfortunately for them, Knull’s Kill Crew also includes corrupted versions of Mister Fantastic, The Thing, Doctor Octopus, Silver Surfer, and America Chavez. So while they may not be as powerful as Sue, they still pack quite the punch even without the symbiotes.

The Fantastic Four Has Better Odds Against The X-Men Than One Might Assume

Because Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse takes place outside the main Marvel reality, then this technically doesn’t go down as a canon victory. That said, if Sue could beat Emma without breaking a sweat under normal circumstances, then it stands to reason she could also take out a large chunk of the other X-Men on her own. Throw in Reed’s stretching and genius intellect, Ben Grimm’s strength and durability, and Johnny Storm’s pyrokinesis, and the X-Men fighting Fantastic Four is seemingly more of an even match-up than one might initially assume.

This X-Men/Fantastic Four showdown comes about in Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse as a result of Knull harnessing Godzilla’s power to take over all realities, and Issue #2 also includes symbiote-controlled versions of Doctor Strange and Odin of 1,000,000 BCE. Knull is opposed by Doctor Doom, whose allies include the aforementioned versions of Spider-Man and Ghost Rider, as well as Kang the Conqueror, The Punisher, and Man-Thing. Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse has also featured players like a Red Skull donned in adamantium armor, Weapon Giga, and kaiju from other universes.

This limited series follows the Godzilla vs. Marvel series of one-shots, as well as the Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe and Godzilla: Infinity Roar crossover events, all of which were published in 2025. From 1977 to 1979, Marvel Comics published a Godzilla series that took place within the main Marvel universe and lasted 24 issues. Godzilla has also crossed over in comics with franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and DC’s Justice League.
